Interior Designer Jobs

The Intermediate Interior Designer contributes to a variety of design projects across multiple sectors, usually with an emphasis on Retail, Food and Beverage and Mixed Use Design. They ensure the highest standards of technical and creative input and are responsible for the design and management of an allocated project on a day-to-day basis with guidance from an Associate Director and/or Senior Designer.

What we are looking for

• Demonstrate a basic knowledge of materials and their application.
• Creative thinker with quick concept communication skills.
• Bilingual written and verbal skills is an asset but not a requirement.
• DEC accreditation in Interior Design or Degree in Interior Design/Architecture or Design related discipline.
• Good communication and organisational skills with the ability to communicate with suppliers.
• Ability to think through design problems and outstanding attention to detail.
• Keen to learn and develop skills and a genuine interest in design.
• Experience working on Concept, Schematic and/or Detailed stage in Interior Design projects.
• Team player with collaborative work ethic. Proactive and conscientious.
• Ability to create a concept, from a brief (under direction where required).
• Advanced software skills, including both 2D and 3D software capabilities: Adobe Creative Suite, Autocad, SketchUp or an alternative 3D package such as Rhino. Revit would be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

Design/Technical expertise

• Sources reference and carries out research to illustrate a design direction to the clients, working with architects and graphic designers in the project team.
• Sources reference material and carries out research to ensure that materials and products are fit for purpose.
• Actively seeks inspiration and reference from sources outside of the business to support creative design solutions.
• Produces (under supervision) drawing packages for Schematic and Detail Stages.
• Produces basic concept work using hand sketches or variety of digital and traditional media to a high standard.
• Produces, under supervision, furniture, lighting and finishes schedules.

Project Management

• Supports company-wide initiatives and proactively seeks feedback.
• Team Membership
• Acts as a team player, actively seeking feedback and demonstrates a positive attitude towards work and team activities.
• Assists in assembling presentations using a variety of digital and traditional media, particularly Adobe InDesign.
• Takes responsibility for some basic project communication, including liaising with contractors, design & construction team and written communications.

Client Relationships

• Provides support to senior team members with client presentations and meetings as required.
• Responds positively towards clients and consultants.

Budget Control

• Recognises the importance of the project budget and seeks to develop their knowledge of project financials.
