Interaction & Visual Designer Jobs

Daily Responsibilities:

As member of highly collaborative senior design team, the designer will focus on internal web software that enables our Advisors to provide strategic advice to their clients. The designer will be engaged in the digital transformation of business banking, from the Design Thinking that drives the user experience of the tool, to the analysis and research to that distills banking complexity into user-centered information design, to the visual design that enables the user experience.

You’ll be comfortable within agile team environments and an iterative process, you’ll collaborate with interdisciplinary team

Members and stakeholders as you analyze, design and convey your responsive design vision. A natural problem solver, communicator and facilitator, you’ll be involved in every step of the process from idea generation to implementation.

Interaction design:

• Understand user interface patterns and behaviours, and use that understanding to drive user comprehension, and improve task performance

• Design artifacts of high complexity to communicate task flows,

touchpoints, behaviours, and the exchange of information

• Use visualizations and interactions to support analytic thinking with large data sets

• Facilitate design critique, evaluate interactions for inclusivity and provide expert advice and guidance to cross-functional teams and stakeholders

• Act as an interaction design subject-matter expert for the product design team

Visual Design:

• Understand visual-spatial displays, and use that understanding to improve user comprehension, and improve task performance

• Design high complexity visual artifacts to communicate information, facilitate interaction, and drive action

• Create complex low-fidelity sketches, hi-fidelity mock-ups and prototypes to communicate intent, and/or delivery specifications for development

• Have primary team accountability for usage of the Design System, and act as the visual design expert on the team

Leadership & Collaboration:

- Facilitate ideation sessions, collaborative work activities, and provide expert advice and guidance to cross-functional teams and stakeholders

- Participation in Agile ceremonies and decision making

What program/technology/software knowledge is essential for this role?

Figma will be used the majority of the time, we also use Mural and Keynote.

Must-have Skills/Experiences:

- A degree or certification in Design (interaction/product/industrial/visual design) or Human Computer Interaction (HCI) or related/equivalent experience

- A minimum of 7 years of experience in both Interaction Design and Visual Design, with a Portfolio that includes application design examples featuring data/information design

- Experience in integrating user research into product designs and design practices

- Demonstrated ability to articulate design strategy, rational and logic; describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions

- Demonstrated expertise with design, prototyping, and collaboration tools such as Figma, Mural, and design systems

Nice-to-have Skills:

- A BA/BS or MA/MS degree or certification in Design (interaction/product/industrial/visual design) or Human Computer Interaction (HCI) or related/equivalent

- Experience with facilitating or supporting user research, with an understanding of various research methods and how/when they are applied

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication and presentation skills, ability to collaborate with other designers and cross-functional team members, ability to manage stakeholders and build relationships. Experience in facilitating workshops is a nice to have.
