Instrumentation & Controls Engineer Jobs

Our client, a major midstream company, is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to work a 1-year contract in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.

Job responsibilities Coordinate and execute Management of Change (MOC), including risk assessments, for plant upgrades and improvements within the instrumentation discipline Consult on capital projects; conduct assurance reviews to ensure design specifications, codes and standards are met Work cross-functionally with operations and maintenance field personnel to analyze, troubleshoot, and solve instrumentation problems that impact safety, reliability, and production Identify and implement recommendations for instrumentation spares and inventory management Lead RCFA for instrumentation failures and incidents; coordinate investigation, share learnings and facilitate implementation of recommendations Perform reliability studies and Life Cycle Cost Analysis to justify reliability improvement projects Support Outage and Turnaround planning and execution Lead identification of Safety Critical Equipment and perform assurance checks to maintain reliability of such equipment. Support site focal for SIS, Measurement and HVAC Support and maintain reliability programs and processes such as defect elimination, predictive/preventive maintenance, equipment criticality analysis, PM optimization, FMEA and RCM. Conduct equipment performance and condition monitoring to optimize equipment life/reliability and identify bad actors; implement mitigation plans for bad actors Perform data analysis and establish and monitor KPI’s such as MTBF, MTTF and Equipment Availability for instrumentation assets Identify continuous improvement opportunities for preventative, predictive and condition-based maintenance programs for instrumentation equipment and systems.

Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering with eligibility for APEGA registration as P.Eng. OR Engineering Technologist (Instrumentation) with eligibility for APEGA registration as P.L. (Eng.) Functional Safety certification is highly desirable 10+ years of petrochemical, refinery or operating plant experience is preferred Proven track record in plant engineering, maintenance and reliability in the field of instrumentation and control systems in large, integrated industrial facilities Strong hands-on experience in functional safety, including SIL, SIF, SIS Working knowledge of engineering codes and standards related to instrumentation Knowledge of reliability engineering principles and best practices such as FMEA and RCM Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills, strong communication and technical writing abilities, attention to detail, and well-developed interpersonal and collaboration skills
