About The Job
Job summary
Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. We inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages.
Every week, we carry out hundreds of inspections and regulatory visits throughout England and publish the results online. We also report on standards across the country and are accountable directly to Parliament. Ofsted’s inspections are independent and impartial.
The Chief Operating Officer's Directorate has four strands: Digital and Information, Finance, Planning and Commercial , Operations and People Group.
Organisational Development is responsible for the development, procurement and delivery of all learning activities for APT and inspectors. This includes development and maintenance of online learning tools, management of the relationship with Civil Service Campus for Government, procurement, event management, and/or delivery of central and team-specific learning activities, and the monitoring of all mandatory training across the organisation. The team is also responsible for talent management and succession planning across the organisation, including early talent programmes and apprenticeships. Finally, the team also leads on equality and diversity matters which affect the workforce.

The key responsibilities of the role are outlined below. However, this is an overview of the role and is not exhaustive. Ofsted reserves the right to assign other duties appropriate to the B2 APT grade as required.
  • Develop, manage, improve and maintain effective administrative systems and procedures, working closely with the elearning team to ensure LearnSpace is used effectively.
  • Managing and developing a small team.
  • To lead on efficient management of induction and onboarding activities, including planning, scheduling and delivery of high quality training. Ensuring the team provide a professional and welcoming first impression for new starters joining Ofsted.
  • To deal and liaise effectively with senior staff externally and internally on a daily basis.
  • Effective use of reporting and evaluation tools to maintain and improve the experience for stakeholders.

Technical Skills

  • Experience of dealing confidently with a range of people and taking appropriate and well-reasoned decisions without reference where appropriate.
  • Experience of event management including procurement of venues and the delivery of excellent customer service at all times.
  • Experience of delivering high quality work on time, meeting operational targets and objectives, effectively planning workloads, and regularly reviewing and revising plans to meet changing priorities.
