Introduction:
This is a position within the Data Quality and Information Management department which supports research work with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or similar databases. Reporting to the Manager, Data Quality will support the unique programming and analysis requirements of the research projects in a particular area such as EMRALD. The Health Information Analyst will receive guidance and direction from the appropriate Principal Investigator and research Team
Responsibilities of the position include, but may not be limited to:
- Work with Principal Investigators and Investigators to develop and validate text-mining algorithms to identify specified types of patients;
- Work with Principal Investigators and Investigators to define and create cohorts of patients based on individual project needs;
- Carry out analysis of results and assist in the preparation of reports as the projects requires;
- Use EMRs to identify patients with chronic diseases and produce feedback graphs for participating physicians;
- Carry out data quality checks as data arrive at ICES;
- Maintain documentation on all processes and manuals on the use of developed programs;
- Provide support for abstraction projects: develop patient cohorts to be reviewed, monitor abstraction progress, act as the liaison between abstractors, PIs and ICES staff;
- Other duties as may be assigned within the scope of this position.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
- Working knowledge of SAS for data management activities;
- Good understanding of electronic medical records;
- Good understanding of text mining concepts;
- Good understanding of Python and other programming languages; and
- Good oral and written communication skills;
- 2 years related work experience;
- Master’s degree in Health Informatics or quantitative discipline such as biostatistics, epidemiology, health services research, or related field;
- Excellent programming skills in SQL scripts and SQL Server 2012 or 2019;
- Good understanding of PC and Mac desktop environments.
- Good report generating skills using SQL Server Reporting Services;
- Good organizational skills;
Security clearance may be required.
This is a full time 24-month contract position.
