Residential Care Workers/ Community Support Workers

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Work, volunteer, or lived experience in a care profession/support capacityORWork experience with cooking, cleaning, laundry, food service industry, or personal care
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook email, online training)
• Desire to provide compassionate care to persons living with mental illness

Personal Attributes:

• Demonstrates appropriate decision-making in response to participant needs and conflict
• Able to create respectful dialogue with individuals who experience mental illness
• Reliable, flexible, and adaptable to change
• Strong time management skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Works well independently and as a team member
• Effective communication, both verbal and written

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Food Handlers training
• Proof of full vaccination, in accordance with the “Nova Scotia COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination Protocol in High-Risk Settings” order
• Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) (preferred)
• Food Handler Certification (preferred)
• Standard First Aid/CPR certification (Level C)
• Ability to complete core competency training and other training/recertification’s during course of employment
• Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
