Health And Safety Coordinator

CORTECH Safety is in search for an experienced Health and Safety Coordinator with extensive knowledge in Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems development in a various industries.

Job Summary

The primary responsibility is working with clients to develop and improve their health and safety management system to achieve the OH&S accreditation of COR, ISO, or other applicable standards. The Junior Health and Safety Coordinator will assist clients in developing OH&S associated documentations such as procedures, practices, risk assessments, inspection forms, job hazard analysis, health, and safety manuals. The main focus will be around using CORTECH’s internal application to process all clients needs. The app is used to create reports from site visits, track hours worked for clients, and to create mock reports for testing purposes.

Work Duties

• Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations.
• Assist in maintaining Certificate of Recognition (COR) by completing internal audits and assisting through health and safety external audits.
• Provide periodic assessment, reporting and recommendations for projects.
• Review, format, and revise safety policies, programs and procedures for compliance and improvement opportunities as per the Health and Safety Manager
• Review hazard assessments, safe job procedures, written reports, and make appropriate changes.
• Upload safety topics and documentation on the CORTECH platform and test download speed, quality assurance and accessibility.
• Evaluate, plan, design, and implement specific forms and modules for the CORTECH platform.

• Create mock trials and forms for site visits to test on the CORTECH app.
• Assist developers in analyzing results from mock trials to identify areas of success and areas for improvement.
• Responsible for overseeing employees and subcontractors to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company rules.
• Participate in the investigation of accidents, injuries, and ensure the completion of reports.
• Ensure corrective and preventative measures are taken for all incidents.
• Use the CORTECH platform to create incident investigation reports.
• Perform additional health and safety duties per supervisor's direction.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years experience in health & safety role.
• Occupational Health and Safety Degree, Diploma, Certificate or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and Ontario Construction Projects.
• Experience with development and implementation of Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
• Experience in construction is an asset
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues & information in a professional manner.
• Experience with the COR Standard in Ontario.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and under pressure
• Strong organizational skills with excellent time management skills to complete deliverables.
• Proficient user in Microsoft Office, Outlook & related applications.
• Ability to management multiple clients Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems.
• Ability to work independently and able to prioritize tasks.
• Must be a highly motivated, team-oriented individual with attention to detail.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm to learning and growing and taking initiative.
• Detailed oriented and can focus on completing details.
