We are seeking an experienced and passionate working Head Chef for a great opportunity with a well-established All-Seasons Resort in Central Ontario’s cottage country.
This resort offers a wide variety of summer and winter activities for its guests to enjoy year-round. The resort has beautiful accommodations, a relaxing on-site Spa, meeting and conference facilities, and a great Food and Beverage experience.
The successful candidate must have a strong background in F&B and Kitchen operations and must have a very hands-on management style. Previous experience in a similar small-scale Hotel/Resort operation is preferred. This is a busy operation and the Head Chef will be expected to provide direction and to assist and inspire all their staff. The Head Chef will be the face of the culinary operation and is expected to lead by example every day and must communicate well and interact closely with both the guests and the staff. (Meet and greet the guests throughout the property)
Role Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development and execution of culinary plans and budgets
- Supervise and participate in all kitchen operations. Including but not limited to execution, portioning, garnishing, inventory, and ensuring artistic presentation.
- Monitor budget and assist, develop annual operating budget, and assist in maximizing revenues and profits.
- As an Head Chef, you will create and develop menus both seasonal and feature items.
- Focus on exceeding guest expectations daily and on improving established cost and quality standards, maximizing profits, developing and retaining employees
- Assist the Innkeeper, F&B Manager and sales staff with banquets, parties, and other special events.
- Schedule all employees under your supervision, and maintain adequate staffing levels while adhering to labor standards guidelines.
- Recruit, develop, supervise, inspire and evaluate staff. Foster a success-oriented and accountable environment at the resort
- Requisition of food and equipment, giving specifications, quantities and quality descriptions.
- Review, develop and implement policies and procedures that strengthen the team and improve the customer experience
Mandatory requirements:
- Read and understand instructions, safety rules, etc. Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech. Speak with poise, voice control, and confidence, using correct grammar.
- As an Head Chef you must be able to prep, using standardized food preparation techniques, while minimizing labour cost.
- Able to work well with a team and has a proven track record of strong managerial skills
- Create standardized processes to maximize efficiencies relating to your operation
- Must be a versatile and multi-skilled professional who can oversee the entire F&B operation
- Food Handlers certification
- Independent and self-motivated, Creative and Ambitious, Hands-on and Charismatic
- A service-driven individual dedicated to the guest and employment experience
- 3 – 5 years similar experience managing a similar kitchen operation
- Standardize practices, which pertain to, selling price, portion control, profit and loss, and percentages. (This will be in conjunction with our finance department)
- Apply principles, to solve practical problems, and deal with a variable presented in a given situations.
- For Visa purposes, Canadian Residency or Citizenship is Required
Package Details:
- Salary of around $70,000 + Plus very nice 2 bedroom accommodation, plus bonus (looking for a lifestyle in the country on an amazing lake with outstanding fishing.............)
- 3 Weeks’ vacation and F&B discounts at the resort
