Job Description

Rooney is seeking a Head Buyer in Menswear to join our team. You will be leading and influencing the buying, developing and reviewing of seasonal collections. You will lead at every stage of the process, starting from formulating proposals for brand restructure - implementing everything from market opportunities to new trends.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Appointments at showrooms in Montreal.
  • You will be expected to travel to Paris during the seasonal Fashion week, meet with brands and visit showrooms.
  • Manage the Buying process from order placement to receipt of goods.
  • Travel to New York for appointments during buying season.
  • Able to build and maintain productive relationships with suppliers.
  • Manage inventory levels and identify areas for improvement.
  • You'll develop and plan commercially successful collections, taking into account sales data, price architecture and brand DNA. Considering various issues such as price, quality and lead times. Analyze sales data and trends, acting quickly to identify new opportunities.
  • Extensive knowledge of current and potential market and trends.
  • A team player who will work collaboratively with others.

Skills and Experience:

  • Have at least two years of experience in Buying within the fashion industry or retail fashion. A clear understanding of costs and margins. You should have excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Highly organized, you'll be able to proactively manage a wide range of responsibilities throughout the development process.
