Howe Sound Pulp and Paper currently has an opening in our Maintenance Department for a Heavy Duty Mechanic.

Howe Sound Pulp and Paper is one of the oldest operating mills in the province. Commissioned in 1909, HSPP plays a key role in the history of the Sunshine Coast. Generations of families who were first attracted to the area by mill jobs, stayed and have made the Coast their home.

Howe Sound Pulp and Paper facility is a leading producer of high quality Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulps. These pulps are used by customers worldwide to make a wide variety of products from tissue and paper towels to fine writing paper.

These positions are required to work various hours, shifts and days of the week (including weekends). Certain job demands may include noisy areas, working at heights, working in a high heat environment, and around moving equipment, repetitive movement, and heavy physical labour.

This is a bargaining unit position with a wage rate of $46.095/hr, extended health, dental and pension plan.

Required Skills And Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Superior troubleshooting, developed machine diagnostic and repair skills
• Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
• Red Seal Certification
• 5+ years of experience working with in an industrial setting
• Valid Driver’s License
• Experience with industrial mobile equipment (Loaders, Articulating / Terex Trucks, Mobile Cranes)
