Position Summary

• Please note there is 1 full-time position available, and 1 part-time position available.

The ideal candidate profile for this semester based, part-time position is someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast paced and driven environment; enjoys a challenge, consistently meets, or exceeds, expectations; possesses a strong customer service focus and a “can do” attitude; and instinctively knows who his or her target audience is and how to effectively “speak” to that demographic.

Reporting to the High School Principal, LaSalle College Vancouver, the incumbent will participate as a faculty member. Our High School is specifically geared towards Grade 10-12 students who are interested in transitioning into our diploma and degree programs. This is an exciting role for an individual who will enjoy working in our prestigious High School, on a shared campus with our college.

In this pivotal and exciting role, your goal will be to inspire and motivate incredibly talented individuals to pursue their dream of a career in the creative arts while equipping them with the math and science skills they need to make that happen.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Maintain high academic standards by promoting teaching excellence and professional integrity
• Provide exceptional classroom instruction that motivates and inspires your students to consistently produce their best work
• Supervise exams and the completion of student assignments
• Submit grades and student work in a timely manner
• Participate in curriculum development by suggesting enhancements to program content and program offerings
• Share learning objectives, evaluation methods and grading across a variety of platforms
• Develop and execute lesson plans that are consistent with, and meet the learning objectives of the Science curriculum at the Grade 10-12 level
• Perform other related duties, as assigned

Knowledge

Job Requirements:

• Recent successful, substantive teaching or practical experience in the relevant subject area
• Bachelor’s degree or academic equivalent in an appropriate field of student
• Experience utilizing a broad range of effective instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs to your students
• A valid BC Teaching Certificate
