Come work as a General Internal Medicine Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!


Richmond hospital has 240 beds, sees over 50,000 emergency room patients per year and runs seven acute operating rooms daily as well as a minor procedure room, a busy rehab clinic and an ambulatory procedure centre. The medical community is collegial and supportive with excellent relationships between departments as well as between community family physicians and specialists. Due to its proximity to the Vancouver Airport, the hospital also provides services for visitors traveling to and from YVR.


In March 2018, Premier Horgan announced a business plan for a new acute care tower, which "will modernize Richmond Hospital for the coming decades and bring quality public health care to people who live and work here”.


Richmond It is the fourth largest city in BC. The population of 226,000 is one of the most ethnically diverse in Canada. It is centrally located on Canada's West Coast, in Metro Vancouver and we acknowledge its location is on the unceded and traditional homelands of the Coast Salish peoples. The city is 20 minutes from Downtown Vancouver, 25 minutes from the US border and it is the location of Metro Vancouver's international airport. Neighbouring communities are Vancouver and Burnaby to the north, New Westminster to the east, and Delta to the south. The Strait of Georgia forms its western border.


As a General Internal Medicine Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will


  • Participate in ward rounding service (0700-1700), day ward and ER consult service (0700-1700), and night ward and ER consult service (1700-0700), with other internists, according to a schedule.
  • Participate in Outpatient clinic services and ETT Testing.


Education, Licensing, & Experience


  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License - Provisional
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Understanding the importance of continuous and effective communication, you are highly skilled at listening, engaging and consulting with diverse stakeholders including patients, internal and external healthcare professionals and caseworker teams.
  • Passionate about patient welfare you understand the importance of delivering high quality care in the context of complex health care systems.
  • Ability to pull together the appropriate data and resources to make sound decisions that are based on fact and supported rationale. The common sense and good judgement to ‘make the call’ or understand the risks associated with certain decisions and able to work well under pressure.

Come work as a Family Physician – Addiction Medicine with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!


This is an Addictions outpatient clinic treating individuals with complex addictions including opiate addiction providing Opioid agonist treatment. The physician would be responsible for providing/monitoring addiction treatment.


As a Family Physician – Addiction Medicine with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will


  • Report to the Head and Medical Director, Department of Psychiatry, VCH-Richmond Mental Health and Substance Use.
  • Provide an innovative and comprehensive array of assessment and treatment to support the recovery of individuals living with complex addiction issues.


Education, Licensing, & Experience


  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License - Full
  • Emergency Experience - Desired
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) - Desired
  • Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP)
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary health team.
