General Foreman - Utility Construction

Forbes Bros. Ltd. is currently looking for an experienced General Foreman - Utility Construction (full-time, permanent) to join our growing FB Bullet team based out of Surrey BC. Specializing in shallow utility construction in the lower mainland, the FB Bullet team continues to see significant growth in the region.

The General Foreman - Utiity Construction will be responsible for proactively managing crew members and schedules to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and coordinate and supervising on-site project work and ensuring deadlines are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the method of construction, manpower, equipment, and material needed and quality control
• Provide supervision and planning in the successful completion of projects.
• Proactively manage and review the project crews and ensure they are meeting the goals and requirements of the contract
• Enforce and ensure compliance to Health & Safety and Work practices
• Enforce equipment maintenance schedule and advise when repairs are required
• Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned
• Plan, direct and participate, when applicable, in day-to-day work activities to ensure that established goals and objectives are met
• Perform audits of construction operations to ensure work is being completed in compliance with project specifications and monitor safe work practices
• Manage unit work or lumpsum work to ensure it is completed to client and bid specifications

• Report on problems and the solutions to Management

What We Are Looking For

• Able and willing to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions and environments, inclusive of heavy lifting
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills, attention to detail, with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Highly effective at building and managing client/vendors relationships
• Certification - Journeyman Powerline Technician, an asset
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in underground utility construction and/or hydro/telecommunication
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of Pre-Access D&A testing, presenting a valid Driver's License and an acceptable five (5) drivers abstract
• Ability to lead a team of all different skill levels, lead teams by example, build consensus, actively listen, and engage crew members
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in field/site with travel and work hour flexibility to accommodate to remote/site work schedules
