Introducing the Festival

The International Film Festival of Human-Environmental Care is a festival subjected around the physical, psychological, and mental environment of humans, which also includes human rights as part of its scope. Films submitted to this festival all meet these criteria. The dedicated section for the year 2023 focuses on war and displacement. One of the reasons for choosing this theme is the ongoing conflict, including the situation in Ukraine, amid numerous wars worldwide.


Introducing the position

Human-Environment Care Film Festival, Film Previewer Group

We’re looking for enthusiastic film fans who love independent cinema to evaluate submissions with us. We would like to encourage you to apply to become one of our esteemed film curators for the HECare Film Festival(HECFF)!


Responsibilities

As a film curator, you will have the most fun and most important aspect of HECFF before you: reviewing the film library from ReelAbilities International, considering shorts and features you may know outside the library, and recommending the films that will comprise our festival. Your role and recommendations are critical to our programming process as we know you can recognize filmmaking talent and potential, pointing us towards exciting work to showcase. Once selections have been made, our steering committee will review your recommended film schedule and decide on the final program. Staff will ensure that the films selected are accessible and rights are secured.


Qualifications & REQUIREMENTS

The application is open to everyone over the age of 18 that works/worked in the Cinema industry, or critics other's movies. To become a curator you must meet the following requirements:


Analyze films critically and objectively.

Write qualitative evaluations/opinions of submissions.

Watch and review films regularly and in a timely manner.

Adhere to the committee’s rules and confidentiality guidelines which will be provided upon acceptance.

Have a personal understanding or deep interest in the authentic representation of people with disabilities in film.
