Work environment
Federal Policing (FP) is a core responsibility of the RCMP that is carried out in every province and territory in Canada, as well as internationally. Federal Policing is 100 years old. Our multi-faceted mandate remains constant – to protect Canada, its people and its interests against the greatest domestic and international criminal threats, with authorities provided under more than 250 federal statutes and Acts of Parliament.
Intent of the process
STREAM 1: This process aims to create and maintain a repository of eligible candidates for assignment, secondment or deployment purposes (at same level or equivalent) for Federal Policing (FP) in Ottawa.
STREAM 2: This process aims to create and maintain an intake inventory of eligible candidates who have been fully or partially qualified in Government of Canada selection processes for a potential indeterminate, acting, or specified period opportunity for Federal Policing (FP) in Ottawa.
The pool information and candidate results will be used to determine qualification and eligibility for the positions to be staffed.
*Partially qualified means statement of merit criteria (SOMC) and second official language may still require assessment, and/or proof of education still needs to be provided.
The creation of this inventory is not position-specific. This repository may be used to staff positions of various tenures, language requirements and security profiles within the RCMP. A specific position may require an additional qualification that may not have been assessed by the selection process. The hiring manager may require further assessment, which he/she will conduct.

Education (dependent on position being staffed):
Each position in the public service has an associated minimum educational requirement.
Education requirements will vary depending on the position to be staffed. At minimum, you must meet the qualification standard for the position. You must provide proof of your education credentials.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to provide proof of their Degree equivalency titles.
Language requirements (dependent on position being staffed):
English Essential, French Essential, Bilingual Imperative (BBB/BBB, BBC/BBC, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.)

Conditions of employment
All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough and separate RCMP security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.
Various security profiles (dependent on position being staffed):
• RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance
• RCMP Secret security clearance
• RCMP Top Secret security clearance
Other information
Operational requirements (certain positions) such as:
• Willingness and ability to work overtime as and when required
• Willingness and ability to travel occasionally or when required
• Willingness and ability to work on call
Reference checks may be sought.
An interview may be administered.
A written exam or test may be administered.
A situational exercise may be administered.
Recent and past performance agreements may be verified.
Only employees at the same group and level or equivalent will be considered for a deployment, secondment or assignment.
