Position – Experienced Civil Engineer

Summary

Kollaard Associates is staffed with several professional engineers, engineering interns, environmental professionals, civil technologists and draftspersons. Kollaard Associates provides a broad range of consulting services including civil engineering for large and small projects, structural engineering, geotechnical investigation and inspection, hydrogeological investigation, environmental site assessment and materials testing. The Role

We are currently looking to hire an Experienced Civil Engineer to assist our civil engineering department with the design of several industrial, commercial and residential land development projects. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of civil or municipal engineering design experience and be able to complete a civil engineering submission package with minimal supervision. As an Experienced Civil Engineer, you will work closely with a broad range of municipal infrastructure engineering projects that may include, roads, sewers, watermains, culverts, storm water management infrastructure, grading and drainage, hydrologic and hydraulic storm water modeling, hydraulic water system modeling and construction contract management.

Responsibilities

• Engage in site visits, project meetings, and coordination of inspections
• Actively participates on the project engineering team to define the problem, establish the scope of work, prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, and provide technical direction and oversight
• Act as a liaison for clients, contractors, engineers, and municipalities
• Supervise the preparation of civil drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Project leader: civil design services for multiple projects
• Provide guidance or technical components of project from planning through design and technical support during construction
• Preparing design calculations and infrastructure modeling
• Preparation of detailed project reports and technical proposals

Qualifications

Required

• Familiar with storm water management modeling; experience with OttHymo is ideal
• Ability to handle conflicting priorities and set clear expectations
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle
• Communication skills, i.e. high level English report writing skills
• Strong client and interpersonal skills, combined with strong team and leadership qualities
• Bachelor of Engineering / Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering and currently a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
• Solid time management and organization skills
• 8+ years or more of related experience is highly desirable
• Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D

Preferred

• Experience providing effective mentoring to more junior engineers, technicians, or designers is considered an asset
