Job Description

Position: Events and Fundraising Coordinator

Employment Type: Permanent Full Time

Annual Salary: $60,000

Hours: 37.5 hours/week

Closing Date: August 31, 2023



We are a non-profit charity, providing hospice and community services to the people of New Tecumseth and surrounding areas supporting living life fully and dying with dignity. We walk together with families and community members through the journey of illness and grief offering a variety of day programs, counselling, and palliative care. We believe everyone should have access to the right palliative and bereavement care when and where they need it.


SCOPE:

Reporting to the Manager of Donor Relations, the Events & Fundraising Coordinator supports the efforts of the Fundraising/Donor Experience team in all aspects of fundraising and events.The Events & Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of fundraising and event execution including, but not limited to, communication, staffing, branding, sponsorship, third party fundraisers, MHH merchandise, etc.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Fundraising and Event Planning & Execution

•Fundraising and Event Branding and Communication

•Coordination and Supervision of Fundraising Event Volunteers

•Community Engagement and Development

•Other Duties as Assigned


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Fundraising and Event Planning/Execution

  • Support organizational events and fundraising activities as directed
  • Facilitate community engagement strategies
  • Provide event specific training and guidance to fundraising event volunteers
  • Source and establish ongoing relationships with fundraising and event donors, sponsors and vendors
  • Support all community events, including 3rd party events
  • Develop volunteer roles for each event in collaboration with Volunteer Coordinator
  • Coordinate fundraising event planning committees


2.Communication and Administration

  • Support in the production of fundraising event materials
  • Cash handling and documentation
  • Collaborate with the Communications & Marketing Specialist on the content and creation of the communication plan for fundraising events initiatives, including social media
  • Document, analyze, and assess donor results to ensure donor/sponsor expectations are being met through use of Donor Perfect data base and other tools as appropriate
  • Act as a spokesperson at presentations/events for information and solicitation purposes
  • Collaborate with the Data & Systems Specialist to ensure integrity of fundraising event data entry in Donor Perfect with regards to fundraising events


3.Coordination and Supervision of Fundraising Event Volunteers

  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator on recruitment, training and retention of fundraising event volunteers
  • Coordinate all aspects of volunteer support for fundraising events including, but not limited to:

•recruiting current volunteers for specific events

•assignment of duties

•supervision of fundraising event volunteers during events

•addressing any volunteer related issues that arise that are related to the event prior to, during or after

  • Provide feedback and support to fundraising event volunteers outside of events and engage them throughout their relationship with Matthews House


4.Other Duties as Assigned


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, database management (Donor Perfect) and social media platforms
  • University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field of study
  • Current knowledge of volunteer screening, management, education and support/coaching
  • Experience working in a non-profit, volunteer-driven environment
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an event planning, marketing, public relations role and/or the completion of a post-secondary education in event planning, marketing, public relations

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to commit to regular evening and weekend work related to events
  • Ability to work both independently and as a leader of a team of volunteers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Multilingualism an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift/move boxes and other items
  • Flexibility with scheduling
  • Clean Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector police check
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to MHH and other sites as required
  • Experience in a palliative care organization an asset
