St. Joseph’s Health Centre oversees the operations of St. Joseph’s Villa (a 128-bed long term care home) and St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre (a 64-bed continuing care hospital) in Sudbury, and Villa St. Gabriel Villa (a 128-bed long term care home) in Chelmsford. ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES MANAGER
Permanent Full-time
The primary goal of the Environmental Services Manager is to ensure our residents and patients are receiving high quality, person-centered care that is in alignment with our values of Dignity, Excellence, Service and Integrity. They oversee the laundry and housekeeping services and related service contracts for Villa St. Gabriel Villa, with a strong focus on infection prevention and control. They plan, coordinate, direct and evaluate all aspects of the laundry and housekeeping services for our residents and patients, and manage a dedicated team of Environmental Services Assistants. They work closely with our maintenance and preventative maintenance professionals to ensure the longevity and aesthetic appearance of the facility, equipment, furnishings, and fixtures. The Environmental Services Manager works as part of an interprofessional team to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of services to residents, staff and visitors. This role is highly involved in continuous quality improvement, strategic planning, infection control, capital replacement planning and functional integrity in compliance with industry, regulatory and organizational requirements.
Additional duties include:
- Program planning related to maintenance and preventative maintenance functions
- Budget administration, policy development and staff supervision for the department
- Day-to-day management of housekeeping and laundry services and linen supply
- Risk management, disaster recovery and business continuity planning
- Development and management of new and existing projects, innovations and pilots
- Inventory control and storage management for general supplies, equipment and pandemic supplies
- Supplier liaison, service contract management, and equipment procurement
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Supervisory experience and a proven ability to work collaboratively and serve a leadership/mentorship role in a unionized interdisciplinary team environment
- Strong project management skills to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to superior standards of quality
- Strong people management skills that support staff growth and wellness and foster a collaborative team environment
- Excellent communication, time management, budget administration and contract management skills
- Post-secondary degree, diploma or training in environmental services leadership/management, environmental systems, facilities management, or related field OR equivalent experience
- Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and regulations is a definite asset
- Completion of the Ontario Hospital Association’s Environmental Services Leadership course is an asset
- Knowledge of all applicable WHMIS/GHS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
- COVID-19 Vaccination (2 Doses) required to work in our facility
- Proven ability to facilitate and manage change, and to be flexible, innovative and creative
- Minimum of three years demonstrated experience with environmental services delivery, ideally in a long term care or hospital environment
