Want to solve problems in an industry considered to be one of the most complex in the world? PEER Group has an opportunity for an Engineering Support (Developer) – Senior looking to apply their expertise to the delivery of leading-edge software solutions for the semiconductor industry. Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Support, this role performs duties under the direction of the Director, Engineering Services in collaboration with the Director, Product Engineering.


This senior role does both product and solution engineering support, as well as hands-on development. You will troubleshoot and resolve errors, log details, and quickly analyze available data to find the root cause of issues. You will also develop solutions to problems, or escalate them to other engineering team members for resolution, while ensuring customers get progress updates and response times in alignment with SLAs.


This role works closely with both internal product engineering and engineering services teams and with existing and/or prospective customers. As a senior, you may be asked to provide coaching and mentoring to other team members. Some travel may also be required.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Document all interactions following standard operating procedures, such as documentation of support activities, customer issues, and resolutions.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix software issues across a range of solution projects, products, customers, and competing timelines.
  • Assist in meeting service driven SLAs, both internally and customer facing.
  • Provide support to customers via support tracking system, leveraging internal resources in a timely manner. Escalate as necessary and identify risk and risk mitigation.
  • Learn new languages and technologies as required to implement designs.
  • Mentor team members and create relevant knowledge and/or training resources.
  • Design, develop, and code using C, C++, and/or C# in Windows environments.
  • Ability to follow design methodologies and code documentation standards.
  • Assess the impact of proposed solutions across both the stack and external systems to ensure a successful integration.
  • Engage with customers and work with your team to capture requirements, design, develop, and code, then integrate applications into customer systems.



SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Advanced manufacturing, equipment automation, and/or semiconductor experience is an asset.
  • Able to walk the customer through potential logic flaws.
  • CRM experience with preference given to Zendesk.
  • Authorized to work in Canada.
  • Able to optimize code to meet performance requirements if/as included customer SLA.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively interact with customers and teammates in person and remote.
  • Quick learner with the ability to multitask within tight deadlines
  • Willingness to travel within North America, Europe, and Asia if/as required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a software development role and/or support engineering role.
  • Ability to speak German considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering (Systems Design or Computer Engineering) or Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Able to work in a role that has both support engineering and product developer scope.
  • Experience with automation design and project management and implementation.
  • Keen problem solving and trouble shooting skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • High commitment to success, , and a professional demeanor are assumed.
  • Able to stay within scope of project and identify scope creep and escalate if/as needed.
  • Experience with Microsoft products including Azure Server, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Skillful writing ability for maintaining user and/or support documentation.
