- You will recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and compliance with company and industry codes and standards. This may involve conducting audits, analysing processes, and proposing modifications to ensure optimal performance and adherence to regulations.
- You will interface with other staff members such as electrical and mechanical foremen, electricians, and mechanics when necessary to execute technical projects. This collaboration will allow you to gain hands-on experience and contribute to project implementation.
- You will perform engineering assessments, identify opportunities and deficiencies, and complete written reports and proposals for existing and proposed infrastructure. This involves analysing systems, identifying areas for improvement, and making recommendations for enhancements.
- You will be integrated into the Engineering Department and collaborate closely with project engineers and reliability engineers, mechanical/electrical superintendents, maintenance managers. This will give you exposure to the varies capital projects, day-to-day operations and maintenance activities within the organization.
- You will have the opportunity to program programmable logic controllers (PLCs), HMI and control systems related to equipment upgrades and improvements. This hands-on experience will allow you to gain proficiency in automation technologies and contribute to enhancing equipment performance.
- You will engage with various internal and external stakeholders and team members in completing capital projects. This collaboration will provide you with exposure to project management processes and allow you to contribute to the successful execution of these projects.
- You will gather information and source documentation from suppliers and preferred Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). This may involve contacting suppliers, researching product specifications, and evaluating options for equipment procurement and maintenance.
- Remember to communicate effectively with your supervisor and team members, seek guidance when needed, and actively participate in the projects assigned to you. This co-op experience will provide you with valuable engineering skills and exposure to real-world engineering practices.
- You will be assigned projects related to process improvement, automated data retrieval, and reliability studies. These projects will involve analysing existing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and proposing solutions to enhance efficiency and reliability.When requested, you will be responsible for preparing basic design and/or engineering reports. This may involve documenting project specifications, calculations, and recommendations to support decision-making and project planning.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
- Ability to summarize, organizational planning and problem solver
- Ability to self-manage and prioritize multiple tasks
- A passion for learning and continuous improvement
- Some coding experience
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Sound judgement and initiative
- Fluent in English
- Currently enrolled in an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering co-op program
- Passionate about data analysis and system automation
