We're looking for a Director Cybersecurity Operations to support our Information Services Risk Management team in Alberta.


The Director Cybersecurity Operations will lead daily operations for multiple cybersecurity functions and will validate effectiveness with appropriate service metrics. Contributing to the cybersecurity strategy by identifying the latest industry threats and planning technology and process improvements to mitigate them.


You are an expert in setting direction on the secure use of existing technology as well as the development and deployment of new solutions at Servus, solving the most critical organizational cybersecurity challenges. Your consultation will be sought by business members as an expert in information security technologies and practices.


Maintaining a positive and collaborative approach to work and your team, you seek to elevate the reputation of our cybersecurity practice by consistent positive collaboration with all stakeholders both inside and outside the department.


More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:


  • Prevent, manage and/or resolve conflict
  • Lead and manage a team of cybersecurity professionals, providing guidance, direction, and technical expertise
  • Ability to apply principles, concepts, practices, methodologies, and frameworks to deliver solutions that are effective and efficient
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and developments in the cybersecurity landscape, using this knowledge to proactively mitigate risk.
  • Ability to understand business issues, processes, and outcomes to apply that understanding in enhancing business performance
  • Ability to identify and effectively use information or data to confirm facts, reaffirm the results of previous work, solve new or existing problems, and/or develop new approaches
  • Ability to deliver pragmatic, effective, and efficient solutions for information systems operations.
  • Willingness to explore alternatives and respond to challenges with creative and appropriate solutions
  • Promote and support the understanding and adoption of cybersecurity standards in delivery and operations through dialog, education, and practice while focusing on continuous improvement
  • Embrace and enable the process of change and transition while helping self and others move confidently through uncertainty, ambiguity, and transition.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Servus Leaders to ensure strong collaboration and alignment across relevant IS and business units
  • Support Servus' business functions by ensuring proactive security measures are implemented and are operating effectively as new technologies are deployed
  • Develop appropriate metrics to measure the effectiveness of cybersecurity operations and demonstrate the value of those services to business leaders
  • Implement industry best practice to detect vulnerabilities and remediate them in a timely manner
  • Leveraging existing and new security services and select components for use in delivering business capabilities
  • Listen to others and communicate in an effective manner utilizing both verbal and written channels to foster and promote open communication, with a focus on clarity, active listening, and presentation skills
  • Continuously monitor and assess the effectiveness of the cybersecurity strategy, policies, procedures, and controls, and make recommendations for improvement and enhancement
  • Monitor and respond in real time to cybersecurity events and incidents, working with teams across the organization to identify, investigate, contain, and eradicate threats and malware
  • Identify, assess, and prioritize cyber security risks and vulnerabilities, then lead efforts to develop and implement mitigation strategies
  • Ability to ensure there are adequate technical and organizational safeguards to protect information services by implementing security principles, methods, practices, policies, and tools
  • Ability and the will to question conventional approaches, explore alternatives and respond to challenges with creative solutions or services using intuition and experimentation, with a focus on perspective, technical savvy, and innovation


Requirements


To qualify, you'll need at least the following:


  • Strong applied and theoretical knowledge of security principles and practices such as ISO 27000, NIST 800-53, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).
  • University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related IT discipline is strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years' experience in information security, with 2+ years applied experience within a large environment
  • CISM
  • Extensive proven track record in the position’s primary responsibility areas preferably within the Financial Sector.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving, organizational, and project control skills to support excellence in delivery and customer service.
  • GCIH, OSCP, SSCP
  • Technical and/or security administrative experience with Microsoft based application development, operating systems, and database platforms
  • Familiarity with using risk assessment methodologies/concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills to interface with multiple levels of management, personnel, clients, and vendors.
  • 3+ years' experience working in an Agile Dev/Ops environment, with applied experience in platform security
  • CEH
  • CISSP is a requirement. In addition, one or more of the following certifications or other equivalents are highly desirable:
  • 2+ years' experience leading staff and managing performance of direct reports
  • Ability to prioritize work in a multi-project environment, and to take ownership on issues and follow through to resolution.
