The Opportunity


The City has partnered with the Community & Social Impact Regina corporation to support future development and growth of the CSIR team and our great community we call home.


The Community & Social Impact Regina (CSIR) Director of Culture and Community Engagement will be part of dynamic team and is responsible for working closely with community members, service delivery partners and key leaders to advance collective impact and improve community wellbeing. The CSIR Director of Culture and Community Engagement must project a professional and positive image of CSIR at all times, and will report directly to the Executive Director.


What is CSIR?


CSIR is a non-profit corporation. Our work is driven by our mandate "To collectively create, facilitate, and monitor coordinated community and social impact strategies in support of the well-being, health, safety, and social inclusion of community members in Regina within Treaty Four Territory, and Homeland of the Métis.", and is focused on advancing the Community Safety & Well-being (CSWB) Plan approved by Regina City Council in November 2021.


Community Safety & Well-Being


The CSWB Plan defines community safety and well-being as the ideal state of a sustainable community where everyone is safe, has a sense of belonging, opportunities to participate, and where individuals and families are able to meet their needs for education, health care, food, housing, income, and social and cultural expression.


Achievement of the CSWB plan requires collaborative efforts to promote community well-being and safety, as well focuses on a strength-based approach in response to community challenges through evidence-based responses that address unique local circumstances and the needs of community members in Regina.

Highlights of this position include but are not limited to:


  • Oversee the key elements of the culturally responsive and community engagement strand(s) of collective impact priorities.
  • Assist in the design of key policies and processes to advance community development efforts
  • Contribute to the strategic planning process and collective impact framework to ensure the elements are inclusive, culturally relevant and engaging.
  • Engage directly with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate system change.
  • Actively contribute to the growth of CSIR through a cross functional team.
  • Provide analysis on community trends and report on community outreach activities and outcomes.
  • Leads opportunities to facilitate connections and provide learning initiatives between Indigenous communities, delivery partners and the service systems.
  • Establish and support collective community partner engagement
  • Seek out training and resources that will advance understanding and advocacy efforts.


Knowledge, Skills And Abilities


  • Knowledge and understanding of community engagement practices and community development principles.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work efficiently. to set priorities, and to motivate others.
  • Ability to advise on matters pertaining to the strategies, systems, and processes inclusive of Indigenous communities, and identify opportunities to practice reciprocity.
  • Ability to manage various forms of communications.
  • Ability to provide insight on the organization commitment to be intentional in culturally appropriate practices reflective of Indigenous communities (i.e., communication strategies, evaluation mechanisms, consultation, and outreach processes, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), using Adobe Suite and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others and influence change.
  • Significant knowledge of Indigenous communities, organizations, and peoples.
  • Must have a broad base of office skills coupled with personal flexibility to adapt to changes in organizational structure and move among departments when necessary.
  • Extensive knowledge of the socio-economic challenges and barriers impacting Indigenous peoples.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in servicing the needs of the Indigenous community to build trust and facilitate relations.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Post-secondary education in sociology, education or equivalent work experience and minimum 7 years leadership experience required.
  • Experience working within large, diverse, and distributed teams in the context of a challenging project.
  • Experience engaging and facilitating sessions with diverse populations.
  • Experience in respectful engagement practices that will meet the needs of Indigenous communities, and advance relations.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in servicing the needs of the Indigenous community to build trust and facilitate relations.

A motivated Individual who possesses strong community development skills and can work with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and pragmatic with strong problem-solving skills. Someone who can establish effective working relationships with many different people and be a trusted member of the CSIR team.
