Digital Technical Writer (Contract Position)

Number of Positions: 1 Duration: 6 months

Location: Mississauga, ON, CA

Must be eligible to work in Canada

Hybrid position Mostly remote but will be required to come to the Mississauga location for team meetings (approx. 1 per month).

This is a part-time contract assignment - 20 hours week to start NOTE: this could increase to 40 hours per week in the fall.

This resource is needed on the high profile Open-Banking initiative and must have:

- IN-DEPTH TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION SKILLS.

- the ability to suggest creative content.

- HTML and CSS (one or both highly desired)

- a solid portfolio that they will be able to share with the client to show-case their work

- experience in the banking/finance industry

- experience working with developers/UI development team

- JIRA

- ability to ask the right questions and understand technical terms

- excellent COMMUNICATION SKILLS !!!!

- any experience in digital product tech documentation/user guidelines is a huge plus

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Digital Technical Writer, you’ll bring your knowledge of content management and technical communication to empower clients and help them succeed. You’ll manage complex documentation projects while creating client-facing integration guides and other on-boarding documentation as required for our digital products. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers and developers, cross-functional teams to develop release notes and weekly known issue reports that communicate technical changes to internal stakeholders and external audiences (users, support agents) in plain language.

Accountabilities

- Provide vision and direction to the technology documentation, while demonstrating a passion for digital product and customer experience; specifically, B2B integration, development, and innovation

- Research, write, edit, and improve the content within multiple help centers. You will work on help articles, release notes, and known issue reports for multiple digital products.

- Communicate new or updated features and known issues to a variety of stakeholders (clients and support agents)

- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base for our associates and clients.

- Make Open Banking language easy for clients and stakeholders to understand.

- Ensure a consistent voice and tone are used across the product development document.

- Work closely with your colleagues, including product management, development, UI/UX, to define and measure success. You will be responsible for ensuring the resulting content meets requirements and is ready for publication.

- Participate in and present at cross-team critiques and brainstorming sessions to give and receive feedback.

- Organizing materials and content library to deliver an exceptional customer experience and encourage self-service.

Requirements

Education:

- University or college degree in relevant discipline

Experience:

- 5+ years of professional technical writing, content strategy, editorial, or copywriting experience for digital products

- Adept at simplifying and communicating complex ideas to broad audiences

- Experience working in cross-functional teams

- Experience working with HTML and CSS is an asset

- Skilled at prioritizing work and managing multiple projects with competing deadlines

Skills:

- Superior verbal and written communication skills

- Intimate knowledge of industry standard

- You have a strong customer-focus and understand the importance of translating technical information into easy-to-read content with actionable steps for integration

- You are a little bit “techie” and don’t shy away from terms like client/server technology, web-based API’s and OAuth

- You love owning results and are a self-starter
