DEPARTMENT MANAGER - GROCERY

In our Grocery department, we are passionate about creating an environment that is welcoming and full of amazing clean, organic, sustainable eating options! The Department Manager - Grocery oversees the daily operations of the Grocery area, ensuring that it is efficiently staffed, stocked and shining. This dynamic role will lead the growth and development of this department in our Langley location in order to create a second to none customer experience for our guests.

The Grocery Department Manager is responsible for the overall appearance, efficiency, and profitability of the Grocery department.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• A passion for organic food and natural medicine and love of the retail and grocery industry
• Previous retail experience in a fast paced, customer centric environment
• Strong, effective leadership skills
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management/supervisor role
• Excellent communication skill and customer service skills
• Must be available to work evenings and weekends
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities under pressure
• Strong organizational skills
• You're a people focused leader who is able to direct the work of others but are always able to work as part of a team and foster a positive work environment

What You'll Be Doing

• Ensure collaborative interaction between all team members
• Manage the day-to-day operations and performance of the Grocery Department team, including setting direction for daily tasks, providing in the moment coaching to team members, and taking a hands-on approach to leadership within the department to empower your team to excel
• Analyze profit and loss statements and recommend improvements to meet department goals including monitoring department sales
• Assist in preparation of inventory and sales budgets
• Collaborate with other managers and corporate teams to provide new ideas and feedback as well as to execute brand wide initiatives
• Be a champion of company mission and values by putting people first, doing the right thing, engaging with our community, challenging the status quo and last but not least, creating a FUN work environment!
• Set the standard of customer service expected from all Grocery team members and actively work with the management team to meet standards of operations
• Managing inventory and writing orders to ensure adequate stock levels for department while reducing food waste
• With support of the Store Manager, manage the human resource components of the team including hiring, performance evaluations, and coaching and performance conversations
• Maintain and promote current knowledge of company policies and procedures, and hold your team members accountable to following these as they apply to their daily responsibilities
