We are hiring for our client in the financial services industry
Fully Onsite - 5 days a week - (Monday to Friday)
Work schedule hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. eastern standard time with some flexibility.
Hourly pay: CA$26 + 4% vacation pay
The client's Corporate Archives seeks organized, self-motivated, and focused emerging archivists to fill 2 positions for a four-month contract role with possibility of extension. The successful candidates will contribute to the ongoing management of the permanent and historic records with particular focus on arrangement, description, and appraisal. Projects will include preparing inventories of varied archival materials and re-housing. These responsibilities will help the archives to provide efficient and accurate access to our holdings for our internal clients.
The successful candidates will join the Corporate Archives team of two experienced archivists.
You will:
- Prepare accurate, detailed data entry inventories of bodies of records Great attention to detail is required for this position.
- Distinguish permanent records from those with shorter retentions as well as transitory materials
- Maintain progress/project documentation in collaboration with other team members
- Brainstorm with other team members to choose the best course of action when multiple possibilities exist
- Rehouse records and perform routine preservation work as needed
- Ensure that records are handled, labeled, and stored appropriately
- Become familiar with record classifications and retentions, especially permanent classes
- Assist with other projects as opportunities arise
Qualifications and skills:
- Graduate of a postsecondary program with a focus on archival studies
- Knowledge of general archival practices and principles
- Previous work experience in an archives, library, or museum
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex industry issues
- Results oriented with ability to balance multiple priorities and projects
- Experience with collections management software (particularly ArchivEra) would be an asset
- Familiarity with Excel and with project management concepts would be an asset
- This role requires the ability to lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs and the ability to go up and down steps/stairs
