Job Description


Motif Labs is a leading player in the Canadian Cannabis Industry, and we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Data Engineer- Excel and Power BI Specialist to join our BI & Analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for updating and creating Excel and Power BI dashboards to provide valuable insights and support strategic decision-making processes. Proficiency in Excel and Power BI are essential for this position.

Responsibilities


  • Collect, validate, harmonize and transform large volumes of data from various sources to ensure accuracy and integrity for reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance, to understand their reporting requirements and translate them into effective dashboard solutions.
  • Develop, update, and maintain Excel and Power BI dashboards that analyze and visualize key business metrics, performance indicators, and operational data relevant to the Canadian Cannabis Industry.
  • Work closely with the team to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and enhancement of data analysis capabilities.
  • Regularly monitor and assess data quality, identifying and resolving any inconsistencies or discrepancies in the datasets used for reporting.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that can drive actionable insights and improve business performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, market dynamics, and emerging trends in the Canadian Cannabis Industry to ensure the dashboards provide relevant and timely information.


Requirements


  • 2 – 5 years experience in big data modeling and analytics
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Computer Science.
  • Expertise in Power BI to create visually appealing and interactive dashboards, utilizing features such as data visualization, DAX calculations, and report publishing.
  • Experience working with large datasets and applying data cleansing, transformation, and validation techniques.
  • Strong understanding of SQL for data querying and manipulation is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong understanding of the cannabis industry is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Cannabis Industry, including regulatory requirements, market dynamics, and key performance indicators.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to extract insights from complex data sets.
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst or similar role, with a focus on Excel and Power BI dashboard development and maintenance.
  • Detail-oriented mindset, with a strong focus on data accuracy and quality.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, data modeling, power queries, power pivot and macros.
