Job Overview
CMiC is seeking a mid-level data engineer to join our team. As a Data Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to create innovative data-driven features in our software platform that set us apart from our competitors. You’ll create data pipelines for machine learning projects and maintain internal prototypes for research & development. You will also act as a technical leader in various development teams on topics related to data-intensive applications. You’ll work closely with the Analytics Product Manager to bring ideas to life and to customers.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Implement data validation and quality checks to maintain high data accuracy and reliability
  • Continuously research and recommend new technologies and best practices for data engineering, cloud computing, and database management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and deploy data solutions in a microservices architecture
  • Design and implement API endpoints for data ingestion and retrieval
  • Document data engineering processes, workflows, and architectural decisions to maintain knowledge sharing within the team
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in the data pipelines and databases to ensure smooth data flow and optimal performance
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using AWS services such as Glue, S3, and SageMaker
Requirements
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficient in working with microservices architecture and building API endpoints.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as Glue, S3, and SageMaker
  • 2+ years of experience as a data engineer or in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle databases (PL/SQL), including performance tuning, query optimization, and database administration
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts
  • Familiarity with big data tools and frameworks like Spark or similar
