Summary:

Certarus is creating an innovative technology platform to drive business efficiencies and to accommodate the Company’s rapid growth trajectory. Having established a core foundation of leading technologies (AI, IIoT, Edge Computing) as well as a Big Data platform that collects over 5 billion data records per day, Certarus is looking to leverage its data to strengthen its competitive advantage.

The Data & Analytics team is laser-focused on driving business value across the organization by utilizing data for:

• Process Automation
• Business Intelligence (Dashboards / Reporting)
• In-house Software Development

Behind the scenes, the team is responsible for building and maintaining robust data infrastructure and pipelines that underpin the company’s applications & reporting, while continuing to make improvements, shed technical debt, and support new use cases.

Reporting to the Director, Technology & Business Process, the Data & Analytics Lead will assume ownership of this function and oversee a team of Business Intelligence Analysts and Data Specialists, while working closely with the rest of the Technology team and other departments in the business.

Schedule:

• We support a hybrid work environment consisting of in-person collaboration at our Calgary office and flexible remote work.
• Normal working hours are expected for this role.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Oversee various machine learning projects from proof-of-concept to operationalization.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Develop and execute a roadmap for data & analytics function.
• Lead a data & analytics team and ensure that all members are contributing to a data platform that drives maximum business impact.
• High-grade the business intelligence platform to ensure that dashboards adequately address business questions, measure performance, and drive meaningful action.
• Interface with Certarus’ customers on data integration projects to extend visibility and establish shared KPIs.
• Partner with key stakeholders in various departments to design, iterate and implement data initiatives.
• Champion good data governance practices and standards while leading initiatives to reduce technical debt / multiple sources of truth.
• Evaluate and improve upon existing data architecture for optimal usability, reliability, and scalability.

Requirements:

• Experience processing and analyzing real time streaming data is an asset.
• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Statistics or related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Azure Synapse, Hadoop, Spark, etc.
• Experience working with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, etc.
• Understand best practices in terms of data standards, database design, data architecture and modelling.
• Expert in SQL as well as a data scripting language such as Python or R.
• 8+ years’ data / analytics / business intelligence experience in a professional environment.
• Highly self-motivated individual who can proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically, with a data-driven mindset.
• Expert developing and maintaining data warehouses, relational databases, and data lakes.
• Experience developing AI/ML models in a cloud environment is an asset.
• Experience developing in .NET Framework is an asset.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Technology Stack (PowerApps/Automate, SharePoint, PowerShell) is an asset.
• Demonstrate ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team while ensuring that they have the resources, direction, and balance to achieve their goals.
• Logistics and/or Oil and Gas business knowledge is an asset.
• Proven experience in design, architecture, implementation, and operation of large, scalable analytical solutions.
• Experience developing data integrations and transformations in Azure (Databricks, Data Factory, Data Share, Logic Apps) or AWS equivalents.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Hands on experience implementing statistical methodologies against time series data to provide actionable insights is an asset.
