At Pacific Smoke International, our mission is to help people quit smoking by providing safer alternatives to traditional cigarettes. As the leading distributor of electronic vaporizers and award-winning vaping products in Canada, we've made significant progress since our founding in 2013. However, we have much more to accomplish for our customers, and we're looking for a culturally aligned C opywriter to join our dynamic team locate d in Markham .

In this role, you will report directly to the Manager of Content & Copywriting and play a vital role in the M arketing T eam . Your primary responsibilities will include crafting compelling copy, communicating brand messaging, and engaging relevant stake holders with intentional mes saging .


The Copywriter Will


  • Research and Stay Informed: Stay up-to-date with vape-related industry trends, market changes, and competitor activities to create content that remain s relevant and competitive.
  • Support Content Planning: Contribute ideas for content themes, topics, and campaigns to keep content fresh and engaging.
  • Craft Compelling Copy : Develop engaging and persuasive content for various marketing materials, such as product descriptions, website copy, blog posts, social media content, email campaigns, and advertisements.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with the product team, brand team, graphic designers, marketing managers, and other team members to align copy with visual elements and overall marketing strategies.
  • Comply with Regulations: Collaborate with the compliance team to e nsure all written materials adhere to relevant advertising regulations and industry guidelines, especially in relation to marketing restricted products such as vaping .
  • Follow Brand Guidelines: Adhere to brand guidelines and style standards to maintain a cohesive brand image across all written materials.
  • Optimize Copy for SEO: Incorporate relevant keywords and search terms into copy to improve search engine rankings and enhance organic visibility.
  • Proofread and Edit: Review and edit copy for accuracy, grammar, spelling, and consistency before publication or dissemination.
  • Communicate Brand Messaging: Ensure consistent brand messaging and tone of voice across all marketing channels to reinforce the brand identity and values.
  • Support Marketing Team Initiatives: Contribute to marketing campaigns, promotional activities, and product launches with well-crafted copy that resonates with the target audience.
  • Stay Customer-Centric: Understand the needs and preferences of the target audience, tailoring copy to resonate with customers and address their pain points.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Content & Copywriting: Work closely with the Manager to align copywriting efforts with the overall content strategy and marketi ng objecti ves .
  • Engage Relevant Stakeholders: Effectively communicate with target audiences, including retailers, customers, clients, and partners, using intentional messaging to build strong relationships and drive engagement.
  • Tailor Messaging for Different Platforms: Customize copy to suit the requirements of various platforms, ensuring it aligns with the strengths and limitations of each medium.


To Be Successful You Should Have


  • Understanding of Compliance and Regulations: For the vaping industry , knowledge of relevant advertising regulations and restrictions is essential to ensure all conte nt complies w ith legal requirements.
  • Digital Marketing Knowledge: Familiarity with digital marketing concepts, including SEO, content marketing, email marketing, and social media, enables the copywriter to optimize their work for different online channels.
  • Continuous Learning: Keeping up with industry trends, new marketing strategies, and evolving customer preferences helps the copywriter remain relevant and adapt their approach to changing market dynamics.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail ensures that copy is error-free and adheres to brand guidelines, enhancing the overall quality of marketing materials.
  • Proven Copywriting Experience: Prior experience as a copywriter in a similar role or industry is crucial. Having a portfolio of past writing work to showcase your ability to craft compelling and effective copy is highly advantageous .
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing , Communications, English, or a related field. While not mandatory, having a relevant educational background can provide a solid foundation for the role.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Besides writing, effective verbal communication skills are valuable for collaborating with team members and presenting ideas to stakeholders.
  • Exceptional Writing Skills: Strong writing skills are a must , including a command of grammar, punctuation, and language usage. The copywriter should be able to write engaging, persuasive, and error-free copy across various platforms.
  • Minimum Experience: At least 2 years + of relevant work experience .
  • Collaborative Skills: As part of the Marketing Team, the copywriter should be a team player who can collaborate effectively with designers, managers, and other team members to deliver cohesive campaigns.
  • Creativity and Innovation: Being able to generate fresh and original ideas for marketing campaigns and content is valuable in capturing the audience's attention and standing out in a competitive market.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: The ability to adapt to different writing styles, tones, and topics is essential in meeting the diverse needs of various marketing initiatives.
  • Time Management: Meeting deadlines is crucial in the fast-paced marketing environment, so effective time management and the ability to prioritize tasks are vital skills.
  • Understanding of Branding and Messaging: Knowledge of branding principles and the ability to align copy with the brand's voice, tone, and values is vital to maintain consistency in messaging.
