Job Description
We are looking fora Qualified Educational Professional to develop micro-credential content for:


Introduction to Sustainability and Climate Change

Continuing Education at Mohawk College offers a wide variety of programs, courses, micro-credentials and workshops designed for those seeking professional development through upgrading or retraining or for personal interest.


Micro-credentials are courses or combinations of courses that are shorter in duration compared to a full-time or part-time program. Micro-credential content focuses on the in-demand skills and knowledge employers are looking for now.


We are seeking a subject matter expert to develop micro-credential curriculum in the following area of specialization:


  • Exemplars of Sustainable Practices regionally, in Canada, and globally
  • Root Causes and Impacts of Climate Change
  • Sustainability and Climate Change Foundations
  • Approaches to Climate Change Mitigation e.g. policy levers, everyday lifestyle choices


Responsibilities


  • Developing foundational and engaging micro-credential content that can inform and engage a wide audience of novice learners.
  • Applying subject matter expertise and professional background to develop evidence-informed curriculum and assessments.
  • Using a variety of teaching and learning strategies such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL), adaptive technology, and alternative delivery methodologies.
  • Working collaboratively with instructional designers and development team.
  • Designing accessible assessment strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement.
  • Providing innovative and inclusive educational delivery and experiences through the use of online educational technology and learning management systems (i.e. Canvas Learning Management Platform), for online asynchronous (at learners’ own pace) delivery.
  • Working collaboratively with C2R2 partners to gather evidence-informed climate and sustainability practices to integrate in the micro-credential.


Qualifications


  • Previous experience developing curriculum and learning materials for online courses.
  • Educational credentials related to Sustainability, Environmental Science, and/or Climate Mitigation.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems design and architecture.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in the field of sustainability an asset.
  • Ability to apply accessibility principles to course development and design.
