Position Overview

The ideal candidate will be capable of teaching one or more of the following CPSC course(s):

CPSC 100 – Elements of Computer Science

CPSC 111 – Introduction to Computation

CPSC 112 – Introduction to Programming

CPSC 115 – Discrete Structures I

CPSC 150 – Computer Organization and Logic Design

CPSC 165 –Introduction to Internet Concepts and Web Design Principles

CPSC 215 – Discrete Structures II

CPSC 225 – Data Structures and Object-Oriented Programming

CPSC 250 – Introduction to Computer Architecture

CPSC 276 – Introduction to Software Engineering

CPSC 295 –Introduction to Computer Systems

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for instructing, assisting students’ acquisition of learning outcomes, and applying active learning strategies within the classroom.

SCHEDULE: Flexible, dependent on availability

Qualifications For Computing Science Instructor

• Knowledge of course learning outcomes an asset
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office programs and applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
• Able to maintain professionalism and cordiality when working with others
• 2 years experience teaching the same or similar courses at another BC post-secondary institution
• Excellent instructional capability
• Strong Proficiency in English
• Proficient with educational technology including databases and online learning environments
• Able to demonstrate success in innovative or student-centered teaching techniques
• Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Computing Science, or equivalent

Alexander College is a private post-secondary institution that offers academic preparation and university level courses.

Our academic preparation courses prepare students for the many challenges faced in university level studies. Students enrolled in our university level courses may work towards a 2-year Associate of Arts Degree or Associate of Science Degree, awarded by Alexander College. Students wishing to continue their studies further can transfer their credits to many other institutions listed on the BC transfer guide. Our students regularly transfer to and complete bachelor’s degrees from the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Victoria, among other institutions.
