Job Description

The Speech and Language Associates of Toronto, inc. (SLAT) is currently looking for a Communication Disorder Assistant to join our team!


SLAT offers easy access to home and school based speech and language services in the Greater Toronto Area. Our licensed therapists collaborate with family and team members to provide the best treatment solutions for each individual client. SLAT philosophy is to build a love of communication by providing high quality, individualized assessment and treatment programs for each and every one of our clients, as each person is unique in every way.


The successful candidate will provide screening, therapy, and parent training to clients who wish to receive additional 1-on-1 and/or group therapy. There is also potential for involvement in collaborative programming, consultative services, and staff training, depending on the candidate's caseload, availability, and interest.

All candidates will receive training and support. It's all about building a strong team!


Role:

  • Provides education and feedback to staff members and client families
  • Communicates effectively and maintains relationships with the therapy team
  • Maintains complete and accurate records
  • Provides consultation within a multidisciplinary team to inform treatment plans, understand a client's unique needs, and troubleshooting other clinical issues
  • Opportunity to support clients remotely
  • Uses current best-practice and evidence-based approaches to assessment and treatment
  • Provides comprehensive speech, language, and communication intervention to children with a variety of communication needs, including 1:1 and group settings


Qualifications:

  • Ability to travel to various locations in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Efficient time management and organizational skills required
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening)
  • Current registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of social communication, language delays and disorders, AAC, literacy, and phonological and motor speech errors.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness in delivering services.
  • Communicative Disorders Assistant post-graduate diploma or other relevant courses.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Utilizes critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with children and youth with ASD and developmental disability, and their families.
  • Must be personable, responsible and fun!
