About The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, School Based Teams - Mental Health & Addictions, the clinician provides services directly in the school community environment within the designated SchoolsPlus schools. SchoolsPlus is a collaborative model that is comprehensive and student focused. Partners work together to educate and provide service to the child and their family, with the school as the center of the service. The clinician is a member of a school-based multidisciplinary team and participates in the planning, development, provision and evaluation of mental health services for the assigned population in designated school settings. The service will focus on early identification and intervention of mental health disorders for children and adolescent within the school population. The clinician will act as a liaison between the client, school, and mental health services.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • In-depth and critical understanding of the principles of harm reduction, the dynamics of addiction and evidence based interventions for the treatment of addiction.
  • Master’s degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology (Registered, Masters), Masters in Counseling, Masters in Nursing, Masters in Occupational Therapy)
  • Non Violence Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred
  • Basic competencies in relation to identifying and treating concurrent mental health and substance use disorders
  • Suicide Risk Assessment preferred
  • Two years’ related experience required (including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention and discharge planning).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide and violence risk assessment/ intervention
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in interviewing, counseling and teaching health concepts to individuals, families and groups.
  • Must be registered with the relevant regulatory body
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM V) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families in relation to sharing information, and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living mental illness and addiction
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in individual/ group cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psycho educational groups.
  • Non-violent crisis intervention, Standard First Aid, CPR, Mental Health First Aid training required.
  • Ability to work effectively in multiple software applications required
  • Please note this is a French Speaking position**
  • Must be fluent in speaking and writing in French

Hours
  • Approximately 12 months
  • Temporary Full Time position; 75 hours bi weekly
  • Dates are subject to change
  • Travel throughout Western Zone is required
Compensation and Incentives
$37.12 - $48.80 Hourly
