About The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Child & Adolescent - Mental Health and Addictions, the Behaviorist works along with the Neurodevelopmental team to plan and provide home based behavioral modification and intervention to children aged 0-19 diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. Autism, Asperger’s, Tourette syndrome) and/or comorbid mental health disorders. The Behavioral Interventionist works in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team and under the supervision of the psychologist and participates in Functional Behaviour Assessments, the design of effective behaviour intervention plans, and conducts analysis of behavioural data for clients with a neurodevelopmental and/or mental health disorders within the program.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Child Studies from an accredited program, and diploma in Behavioral Intervention from an accredited institution OR Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Child Studies from an accredited program, with 5 years' experience providing behavioral based interventions with children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence based standards and practices for behavioral intervention for children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Demonstrated ability to provide psychoeducation for problems commonly associated with neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Meets with children and their families/caretakers, within their home environment, for the purpose of developing goals and strategies to address the assessed behavioral/developmental or mental health concerns.
  • The behavioral interventionist must be able to work collaboratively and cooperatively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and have demonstrated willingness to work independently, while receiving supervision, within a flexible work schedule and environment.
  • Facilitates the monitoring of outcomes relevant to the treatment goals.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Three (3) years’ experience working with preschool, school age, and adolescent children with neurodevelopmental disorders providing behavioral based interventions
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to provide functional behavioral assessments
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team conferences and participates in the overall development of the clients’ treatment plans
  • Provides regular, ongoing support to children and families in order to address behavioral and developmental concerns and coordinates and adjusts service delivery in a manner consistent with assessed goals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability participate in the planning of and implement treatment plans that use positive behavior management strategies to promote positive adaptive behaviors, independence and skills development for children with neurodevelopmental and comorbid mental health disorders.

Compensation and Incentives
$33.80 - $42.68 Hourly
