Civil/ Mechanical & Electrical Estimator

Senior Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Estimator

:

• Prepare preliminary construction schedule, and/or assist Scheduling department with schedule development.
• Provides assistance to management for risk analysis.
• 10+ years experience in the field of construction on the estimating/pre-construction side with exposure to projects of major scope
• Primavera & Prolog experience is mandatory
• Project experience in concrete formwork/civil projects
• Produces detailed quantity take-off and prices labour, material and equipment portions of estimates
• Excellent technical computer and organizational skills
• Advanced skills in MS Office products - Excel, Word and Outlook and Procore software are an asset
• Obtains correct labour rates and appropriate "add-ons" (e.g., labour burdens, small tools, insurances, bonding) in pricing of the estimate
• Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers/subcontractors to ensure ACL receives competitive pricing for estimates
• Manages the estimating process, including site conditions, safety requirements, solicit suppliers and subcontractors, interprets project drawings and specifications, prepares quantity surveys, pricing of estimates, and prepares pricing of General & Special Conditions cost estimate
• Works with the owner and owner's consultants to resolve any questions or ambiguities with the tender documents prior to submitting a tender
• Directs and monitors progress of estimators during bid process.
• Attends meetings, including pre-tender, bid strategy, PRC, pricing review and subcontractor scope review meetings as needed, to meet the requirements of the estimating process.
• Works closely with the assigned Operations Director in the development of the project execution plan.
• Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with the owner and the owner's agents, in conjunction with Business Acquisition, by recognizing the owner's unique proposal and project requirements
• Researches the labour requirements for the project.

Qualification:

• Post Secondary degree/diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related fields

Sr/Jr. Civil Estimator:

Exp- 5-13 years

:

• Experience in the following Software: Bluebeam, AutoCAD 3D, Takeoff Software
• Critically analyze bid documents and understand risk and opportunities and articulate those to management.
• Gather and monitor actual cost vs. estimated cost, maintaining project cost history.
• Knowledgeable of the following: civil/site construction, foundation and structural systems, miscellaneous metals, casework, doors, specialties, interior finishes, exterior building wall systems, mechanical and electrical systems, and the costs of these systems
• Able to manage multiple projects concurrently with ability to multitask.
• Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications to ensure required documentation is present and determine scope of work.
• Microsoft Office knowledge and experience
• Leads Estimating Team with timely roll-out and execution of the entire estimate deliverable process.
• Develop full-scope estimates based on Bid-Build, Design-Build or CM/GC construction documents.
• Manage and maintain subcontractor database and subcontractor prequalification.
• Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations.
• Accurately assesses and plans takeoff workload.
• Participate in technical proposals for Alternative Delivery projects.
• Organize the bid team, providing leadership and direction with regards to means and methods, schedule, and strategy
• Develops unit costs accurately.
• Attends project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews as required.
• Performs technical/plan review when required.
• Create detailed crew and production cost estimates and review prices with estimating team.
• Solicits and analyzes subcontractor and vendor pricing input when required.
• Provide detailed quantity take off specific trades when required.

Qualification:

• Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering, with 10+ years of preconstruction/estimating and/or operations experience on commercial construction projects
