About the Opportunity
Our growing company is seeking a highly skilled, energetic, reliable, and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team. Renumeration will be commensurate with the level of skill and experience of the Candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Continued assistance of section managers in the preparation of project estimates and proposals.
- Design and analysis of complex systems, structures, and components. Design activities may include the preparation of calculation reports, drawings, and technical and construction specifications.
- Effective collaboration with other engineering disciplines and departments involved in the execution of a common project.
- Effective coordination and interfacing with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders––to achieve an efficient execution of engineering work while meeting the client’s evolving needs.
- Preparation of technical documents, such as engineering drawings, change paper markups, calculation/design reports, design requirements, design guides, bill of materials, and technical specifications.
- Project-specific technical leadership, involving the verification and validation of work by junior and intermediate civil engineers.
- Periodic reporting to, and consultation with, section managers.
Desired Skillset
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of Canadian and American codes and standards, including CSA S16, A23.3, AISC 360, ACI-318, and NBCC
- Professionalism and ability to work in a team.
- Familiarity with programming languages, e.g., Matlab, Fortran, C, C++, Python, Excel VBA.
- Strong leadership and management abilities evidenced by past performance, with demonstrated success in a supervisory role in guiding, mentoring, engaging, motivating, and providing constructive feedback and criticism to peers and subordinates.
- Experience in compliance with regulatory standards as well as client’s procedures and quality programs.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Robust grasp of solid mechanics, structural dynamics, and seismic engineering.
- Demonstrated ability in preparing technical reports and deliverables to completion.
- Proficiency with finite element software, e.g., STAAD.pro, SAP2000, ETABS, or similar.
- Highly developed analytical, decision making, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills, with a history of successful collaboration, teamwork, innovation, coordination, and planning.
Qualifications
- Proper technical background and education, typically acquired through the successful completion of a University Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
· Prior experience in the Oil & Gas or Nuclear Power Generation Industries.
- Professional Engineers (P. Eng.), registered in Ontario or elsewhere, are given precedence.
- Site access security clearance for authorized unescorted entry to a power generating station, or eligibility to acquire one such clearance.
- Compliant with all the requirements set by the Occupational Health & Safety Act and by cogent regulatory bodies.
