BUILDING A ROSTER OF INSTRUCTORS AT SKILLS FOR CHANGE
LOCATION: Open to Candidates Located Across Canada
REPORTS TO: Manager, Social Enterprise
CONTRACT TYPE: Contract (Non-Unionized)
CONTRACT DURATION: 5+ Weeks as of Start Date
SCHEDULE: 5 hours/week once on Saturdays or 2.5 hours/week for twice a week on weekday evenings (Mondays-Wednesdays or Tuesdays-Thursdays)
START DATE: Immediately

DESCRIPTION:
Skills for Change, Career Skills program is looking to build a roster of instructors to train students in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Microsoft Office, SAP, Project Management, Quality Assurance and Business Writing. Career Skills is a skills training program established in 1998 offering a range of instructor-led courses that challenges individuals across Canada to upskill, advance their careers and grow businesses.
The Career Skills program is looking to build a roster of instructors for the roles below:
- Accounting Essentials with Quickbooks Online
- Payroll Accounting with Quickbooks Online
- Tax courses: Income Tax T1 and Business and Corporate Tax T2
- Canadian Securities
- Sage 300 ERP - ACCPAC
- Data Analytics
- Cloud Security (CCSP Certificate preparation)
- IT Security (CISSP Certificate preparation)
- Cybersecurity
- Network Technician
- Software Testing
- Project Management Exam Preparation
- Business Writing
- Quality Assurance and Control Training
- Website Design (Word press and Squarespace)
- SAP FICO (General Ledger, Account Payable, Account Receivables)
- SAP Supply Chain (Purchasing, Sales)
- Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Microsoft Excel (Beginner to Advanced)
- Microsoft Project (Beginner to Advanced)
- Microsoft Access
- Microsoft Powerpoint and Publisher
Qualifications:
- Sensitivity to and understanding of issues of concern to immigrants and refugees;
- Demonstrated commitment to professional self-development;
- Must have at least 2 to 10 years of experience in adult teaching/facilitation;
- University degree in related field;
- Must be able to work part time as a facilitator;
- Proficient knowledge and experience in the course of teaching interest;
- Must have stable internet access and experience with Zoom conferencing.
- Initiative, energy, and persistence in completing assignments.
- Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both oral and written;
- Experience conducting course level assessment of student learning outcomes, and analyzing relevant data, and utilizing the results to improve instruction;
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met;
- Deliver instruction on the specific course;
- Develop and maintain an approved program of professional self-development;
- Update and assess student learning outcomes and develop appropriate assessment instruments;
- Conduct student counseling and recommend corrective action to ensure acceptable student performance;
- Prepare and revise course outlines, develop curriculum and develop alternate delivery systems for courses where appropriate;
- Provide tutoring and review sessions for students from time-to-time classroom;
- Utilize curriculum that reflect the diverse educational, cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the course participants;
- Prepare student evaluations to include performance and learning deficiencies;
- Be responsible for classroom and online setup, which includes setting up computers and instruction material to include providing online access codes to students;
- Utilize curriculum that reflects the diverse educational, cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the course participants;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
