Job Description
Established in 1976 the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. Recognized under provincial legislation, the Institute has been conferred authority to grant certificates and diplomas. SIIT welcomes over 2400 students into our urban and community programs annually as well as serving over 6000 clients through our nine Career Centres across the province. The Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies is playing a significant role in Saskatchewan's economic future. You can contribute to that success while building your career.

As an employee in the JobConnections unit, the Career Development Worker is accountable to provide career services and will support students with navigating career and education pathways and promote post secondary education programming, supports and services available at post secondary institutions in Saskatchewan. Job Connections (JC) is a mobile service delivery initiative, providing outreach employment services primarily to Indigenous communities. As an employee of SIIT, this position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission and mandate.

The Career Development Worker plays a pivotal role in helping students achieve their education and career goals by providing personalized support and guidance, answering questions, referral services and providing information and options to help them make informed decisions about their academic future and career aspirations. Working collaboratively with Oẏateki Partners and representatives from University of Saskatchewan (USask) and Gabriel Dumont Institute (GDI), this position will deliver services that will engage youth in their home communities before they exit high school. The services will provide awareness of post-secondary programming and personalized pathways for each personal situation and career choice. As the student transitions into post-secondary education, JobConnections will be the link to ongoing support.

The Career Development Worker is required to take a lead role in facilitating services that support the career development process of students through such means as assessment, coaching, workshop delivery, basic job preparation skill development, informed job search, referral, and promotion of post secondary programs, services and supports. All functions will occur in or near First Nation and Metis communities of Saskatchewan and will involve extensive travel.
