Position And Responsibilities
The technical services department is looking for a talented lead technologist who would like to be part of a team that will provide design solutions to Cameco operations and other business units. Reporting to Chief Engineer, mechanical, you will be responsible for mentoring and training of other designers, review/oversight of the design work, development and coordination of data rich 3D models, and drawings. In addition to performing mechanical design, you will be responsible for supporting the integration of mechanical and piping designs in Building Information Modelling process and hence enable construction, commissioning, start-up and eventually transfer to operations.
You will ensure all work is done in accordance with Cameco’s processes, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements to meet the required quality.
Education And Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
  • A.Sc.T, C.E.T, or international equivalent certification
  • 10 - 12 years of relevant industrial work experience
  • Diploma in mechanical engineering or CAD/CAM technology
Assets
  • Advanced knowledge and strong hands-on experience in 3D modelling design software (preferred experience with Autodesk Plant 3D, MEP, Navisworks), working with 3D Laser Scan point cloud data (using Leica Cloudworx, Jetstream, ReCap or similar software), and Autodesk Vault or similar drawing management system
  • Experience with using 3D laser scan data, and integration of technical data in 3D CAD Models to support Building Information Modelling will be an asset
  • Experience in an industrial and/or mining environment is preferred.
  • Projects will be based at Cameco’s northern Saskatchewan sites and Ontario operations. Individual will be required to travel occasionally to these sites.
  • Experience working in a project’s environments, excellent organizational skills in leading, and managing CAD teams
  • Experience in piping, equipment design, equipment layout, building services, HVAC, process ventilation, and materials handling and development of procurement and construction work packages
