Business Intelligence (BI) Developer


This is an opportunity to develop data, reports and dashboards that combine crop science data from multiple internal sources to support functional analysts and leaders. Deliver quality actionable data to support functional and cross functional decision making including but not limited to day-to-day operations, measuring business performance and steering business decisions.

What you will do:
  • Understand and leverage common definitions of cross functional and cross brand metrics and calculations
  • Work both independently and in a team gathering business requests and collaborating with data engineers to design data products in order to fully satisfy the data requesters
  • Enjoy digging deep for the answer and won't give up until they have it – problem solving mentality
  • Collaboratively build business and data knowledge and solutions
  • Continuously Improve data and metrics available to functional leaders
  • Develop and maintains the necessary data and documentation to understand the data elements, respective sources, expected range of answers
  • Deliver data, reports and dashboards with the key performance indicators and metrics needed to make business critical decisions and drive business results.
  • Develop and implement accurate, consistent and secure data sets supporting key metrics
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvements in leveraging and utilizing business intelligence and educates stakeholders in adopting said culture
  • Use business acumen and functional stakeholder input to understand data needed for process enablement, to locate the needed data, and to translate to the right measures at the right granularity to answer the question being asked with appropriate presentation
  • Understand and follow standard approaches and tools to solve common data compilation challenges
  • Work with data requesters to understand business rules behind available data to enable proper interpretation for metrics
  • Understand the business and the underlying need around requests
  • Leverage baseline understanding of traditional data warehousing, data structures and tools
  • Compile data from multiple data platforms as needed to get to an answer. Adaptive to changing tools, technologies and data environments
  • Foster strong working relationships with all stakeholders to understand the link between data requests and business process decisions


Who you are:


  • Experience leveraging tools in the Business Intelligence space (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx, Python (Pandas NumPy), PowerApps, Business Objects, GIS (QGIS), Advanced Excel (macros), Advanced Microsoft Access (Visio)
  • Business acumen in the area of relating data to business process drivers and performance management
  • Ag Industry and/or supply chain knowledge is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to crafts communication appropriately to both business and IT audiences
  • 3+ years of experience working with data (e.g., Finance, Data Warehousing, Data Analytics, Transactional data Reporting); or a Masters degree in related field (e.g., Business Intelligence, Data Science, Analytics)
  • Experience in AGILE project methodology, ERP (SAP) and CRM (Salesforce, MsDynamics)
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving (researching and finding options) skills in the data arena
  • Customer centricity and collaborative team-focused delivery experience with a strong focus on accountability and ownership
  • 2 years of hands-on experience in Tableau Desktop and Relational Databases (e.g., querying and maintaining Microsoft SQL, Oracle databases)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred in Business Intelligence, Data Science or Computer Science disciplines)
