Job Description
On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking a Business Analyst for 2 year contract in Regina SK.


Business Analyst Job Details


  • The Business Analyst(s) must have a collaborative approach in working with the Project Manager(s), the business subject matter experts (“SME”s), internal ministry Business Analysts, third party vendor specialists, internal/external deployment team and the Application Management team. A large part of this role involves coaching and mentoring a group of business SMEs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • The Business Analyst(s) will help business users understand their respective business processes and resolve issues using technology, processes, people, and structure. This position plays an integral and strategic role in organizational success, as they are key players in helping the business to make informed strategic decisions. They are responsible for managing business requirements and must ensure that requirements are met by project managers, built by software developers, delivered effectively by a secure system of networks, tested by quality control, managed by the data owners, and accepted by the customers and stakeholders.

Business Analyst Responsibilities


  • Create and document feasibility studies, business cases, technical assessments, RFX. requirements, project charters, user manuals, system manuals, policies, processes and procedures, etc.
  • Preparing the business for change by conducting organizational readiness activities.
  • Create and manage a robust plan for testing that ensures the end product supports business processes.
  • Verify that the solution meets the requirements and quantify the benefits and costs of each solution.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide quality assurance in relation to the accuracy and integrity of the information provided in the solution.
  • Document Business Process and Workflow Models (As-Is and To-Be).
  • Define and scope the business problem or opportunity and identify solution and/or alternative solutions.
  • Document Use Cases based on Business Process and Workflow Models.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop training, training materials and facilitate training for both technical and non-technical audiences. The resource will be required to participate in consultant performance evaluation as deemed appropriate by the ministry.
  • Create, coordinate and execute test scripts, utilizing formal testing methodologies to verify that system and business applications meet specific requirements.
  • Research, develop, and recommend the implementation of new approaches and technological solutions for data and integration services.
  • Apply a business analysis framework for success.
  • Effectively analyze information, problems, situations, practices or procedures.
  • Identify any risks, issues and assumptions with the solution and contribute to an effective control and risk management process.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and SMEs, etc.
  • Perform as Test Lead, to guide the business SMEs through the process of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure business requirements are sufficiently identified, traced and functional in the finished system
  • Work closely with technical teams to ensure their translation of requirements to solutions meet the needs of the users and integrates into the overall GOS architecture.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate into business rules.
  • Elicit, document, manage and communicate functional and non-functional requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Business Analyst Mandatory Skills


  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification.
  • Demonstrated experience as a practicing Business Analyst with experience on two or more data analytics and data warehousing projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating, planning, and executing testing strategies and in leading business subject matter expert through the process of User Acceptance Testing.
  • Local Knowledge
  • Candidate to provide a copy of the certificate.

Business Analyst Nice-to-Haves


  • Demonstrated experience preparing project documents including, but not limited to, testing plans, and use cases and user stories based on business processes.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft PowerBI is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and executing test scripts, utilizing formal testing methodologies to verify that system and business applications meet specific requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience developing training, training materials and facilitate training for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and outlining the scope of the business problem, opportunity, business outcome and identifying solution alternatives.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing the business for change by conducting organizational readiness activities.
  • Demonstrated technical background with experience communicating technical concepts to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences to various levels within an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing business requirements and translating into business rules.
  • Demonstrated experience participating and facilitating business process model discovery and planning workshops and requirements gathering sessions to elicit business and technical requirements with an emphasis of understanding the business priorities.
