EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYBuilding Maintenance – Full-TimeM’akola Housing Society – Terrace, BCPosition SummaryUnder the supervision of the Property Manager, the Building Maintenance position, internally called the Caretaker, is responsible for conducting regular building checks of each property in the regions to ensure they meet the quality standards M’akola sets. The focus of the role will be to pick up garbage around the buildings, posting notices if needed and participating in the on-call rotation for after hours calls. If able, this role will assist in the minor maintenance tasks as well. The successful candidate will be aware and sensitive to the housing needs of the Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people. The Caretaker will ensure MHS is represented in a professional, responsible, and respectful way at all times.Accommodation, relocation, and wage may be negotiated for the right candidate.This position is full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate must be vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus.M’akola offers the followingCompetitive wages and annual reviews3 weeks vacation to startExtended health and dental$250/year towards Health & WellnessEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Municipal Pension planWeekly on-call premium when scheduledRequirements3+ years of experience in building maintenanceWorking knowledge of applied trades such as electrical, plumbing, or carpentry (no ticket required)Strong time management and prioritization skillsExperience and skilled at using MS Office as well as an iPad;Ability to relay information in a calm, polite and respectful manner to community membersExperience working with Indigenous communities considered an assetOtherMust possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License, Clean Driver’s AbstractHave a reliable vehicle to carry tools and for hauling suppliesProvide clear Criminal Record Check prior to hiring, costs covered by M’akolaWillingness to follow M’akola policies and proceduresAvailable to take calls outside of regular work hoursSupply own tools of the trade;Completed First Aid – Level 1 (can complete once hired and paid for by M’akola)Fully vaccinated from Covid 19, as per M’akola policyWe hire employees of all cultures including Indigenous and non-Indigenous.
