Blockchain Engineer
Job Type: Contract
Location: Toronto, Ontario – Remote / Hybrid-Remote
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Blockchain Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background, a deep understanding of blockchain technologies, and hands-on experience in building scalable and efficient decentralized applications (DApps). As a Blockchain Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and deploy blockchain-based solutions that cater to specific business requirements and ensure the integrity, security, and efficiency of the underlying blockchain infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Optimize and scale blockchain infrastructure to handle high transaction volumes and improve overall system efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the blockchain development team.
- Collaborate with the DevOps team to ensure smooth deployment and monitoring of blockchain applications in production environments.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure the reliability and robustness of blockchain applications.
- Research and assess various blockchain technologies, protocols, and platforms to identify the best-suited solution for specific project requirements.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain smart contracts, consensus algorithms, and blockchain protocols to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to design and architect blockchain-based systems and applications.
- Identify and address potential security vulnerabilities and attack vectors to safeguard the integrity of the blockchain network.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in blockchain technology and propose innovative solutions to improve existing processes.
- Implement and integrate blockchain APIs, SDKs, and middleware for seamless interaction with the blockchain network.
Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of blockchain technologies, including various consensus algorithms, smart contracts, and decentralized applications.
- Familiarity with cryptographic principles and secure coding practices.
- Experience with blockchain development tools, frameworks, and libraries.
- Understanding of decentralized storage systems and distributed ledger technologies.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
- Proven experience as a Blockchain Engineer, with a track record of successful blockchain project implementations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Hands-on experience with blockchain platforms like Ethereum, Hyperledger, or EOS.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Solidity, Go, JavaScript, Python, or C++.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of off-chain scaling solutions like sidechains and payment channels.
- Contributions to open-source blockchain projects or active participation in the blockchain community.
- Familiarity with blockchain analytics tools and monitoring solutions.
- Experience with decentralized identity (DID) and self-sovereign identity (SSI) systems.
- Understanding of blockchain interoperability protocols.
- Experience with token standards (e.g., ERC-20, ERC-721) and tokenization concepts.
