Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Lab Assistant to join our team and support our nematode production project. The Lab Assistant will work closely with our experienced Lab Technician to assist in various laboratory activities, including sample preparation, data collection, analysis, and general lab maintenance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a cutting-edge research environment and contribute to the development of nematode production processes.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of experimental results and data entry into laboratory databases.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for process optimization and improvement.
- Collaborate with the lab technician to perform routine laboratory tasks, including preparation of culture media, sample collection, and cleaning of equipment.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as pH measurement, biomass quantification, and viability assessments.
- Assist in maintaining laboratory supplies and inventory management.
- Assist in the setup and monitoring of fermentation processes for nematode production.
- Stay updated with relevant scientific literature and industry trends related to nematode production.
- Support the lab technician in conducting experiments, collecting data, and documenting experimental procedures.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Knowledge or experience in Bioreactors and bacteria identification.
- Previous laboratory experience or internship is preferred.
- Familiarity with microbiological and fermentation processes.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for work.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and sterile handling procedures.
- Strong interest in research and laboratory work, particularly in the field of nematology.
- Proficiency in using a microscope, stereoscope, data collection, analysis, and record keeping.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
This is a full-time position based at our facility, and the Lab Assistant will report to the Lab Technician. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative research setting, contributing to the advancement of nematode production processes.
