DASCH is a non-profit organization established in 1974 dedicated to exploring and meeting the residential, day program, respite and foster care needs of youth and adults. We support people living in over 50 homes and two day programs throughout Winnipeg. People can participate in personalized social, educational, vocational, and recreational services that provide learning opportunities and greater independence.

We are currently hiring for the position of Behaviour Consultant. Join a team that assesses behavioural needs of the people we support and offers them, their families, and caregivers support in the form of behavioural intervention, training, and counselling. This position involves working collaboratively with others to help people with intellectual disabilities be part of their community and have the skills needed to cope with life’s everyday events.


Position Summary

The Behaviour Consultant works as part of the Specialized Support and Resource Services (SSRS) team and is responsible for the assessment and behavioural provisions of the people we support who are exhibiting challenging behaviours using procedures that are scientifically valid.The Behaviour Consultant is responsible for providing training throughout the organization regarding individual behaviour plans, general behaviour principles and varied disabilities.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, train, and monitor behavioural treatment plans that meet the overall needs of the person.
  • Responsible for administration, development and provision of psychological services and education.
  • Document recommendations, progress notes, and outcomes of implemented treatment strategies.
  • Assess clinical/behavioural needs of the people we support.
  • Provide direction to, and consult with other members of the DASCH team to ensure service delivery and treatment plans are responding to the needs of the person.

·Provide training to caregivers, families, location supervisors, direct support professionals and managers in positive behaviour management techniques.

  • Participate in continuing education programs required by the Psychological Association of Manitoba or DASCH.
  • Motivate, supervise, and monitor the performance of staff in areas related to SSRS.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with peers, supervisors, and external partners.
  • Consult with other clinical areas regarding programs when required.
  • Develop, maintain, administer, and supervise staff training/education plans.
  • Assist in the administration of skill development groups as required.
  • Promote and enhance knowledge and understanding of psychological characteristics and needs of a person with an intellectual disability.
  • Attend government meetings and medical appointments as required.
  • Coordinate services provided to the people we support if needed.
  • Provide individual treatment sessions when necessary to promote independence and adaptive skills.

Skills & Qualifications


  • Experienced in training and adult education.
  • Ability to meet the emotional demands of working with people with violent behaviour, self-injurious behaviour, and other high-risk behaviours.
  • Demonstrated skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • BCBA (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst) is an asset.
  • Registration, or able to be registered, with the Psychological Association of Manitoba is an asset.
  • Strong professional skills, ability to remain objective and constructive.
  • Possess a comprehensive knowledge of behaviour analysis theory and practice relevant to the support, assessment, and treatment of people with intellectual disabilities and clinical concerns.
  • Full Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License with access to a vehicle for work.
  • Master’s degree in psychology from a recognized university (with a specialization in behaviour management preferred) is an asset.
  • Efficient in the design and implementation of treatment procedures.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities providing clinical supports is preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Strong communication, data analysis and information interpretation skills.

Work Hours:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Full Time

Wage: Starting at $60,000 annually
