Our goal is to provide all the children at Stoney Creek Child Care Centre Inc, a clean, safe, comfortable, loving environment, where they can play and learn. Respect toward self, others and the environment will be emphasized. We believe in the value of both structured and flexible schedules. Structured activities will include the use of a preschool curriculum, regular reading times, arts and crafts, computer time and musical activities based on the framework of How Does Learning Happen. Outdoor play, free play, and birthday parties, are some of the more flexible activities we have. The most important priority is to have FUN!

Our Mission:

The mission of the Stoney Creek Child Care Centre Inc. is to provide safe, affordable, high quality child care for the children of Stoney Creek. In doing so, we support families in their efforts to reach their own personal goals. The Stoney Creek Childcare Centre Inc. provides a cognitively based program for children ages 0 months to five years. We provide a comfortable environment where children are encouraged to develop at their own pace. The Stoney Creek Child Care staff is committed to the families we serve, providing support and encouragement.

The Position:

The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and monitoring play-based learning experiences for children and managing staff/child ratios in the Child Care Centre. In addition, the Assistant Supervisor supports the Supervisor in planning and implementing Child Care Centre programs and services in accordance with CCEYA. This position provides leadership and functions as a role model and coach to staff to achieve the departmental and organizational goals. This position also includes administrative responsibilities to assist with the daily operations of the Child Care Centre. This includes but is not limited to staff scheduling and payroll, classroom and Centre attendance, registration process, working with outside agencies, and maintaining compliance with all records according to Ministry requirements.

The Assistant Supervisor will work alongside the Child Care Centre Supervisor.

Reports to:Child Care Centre Supervisor

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
• Ability to multi-task and flexibility in accepting work assignments.
• Ability to work effectively with professionals and clients.
• Current Criminal Reference check with Vulnerable Screening (less than 6 months old)
• Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators in good standing
• Strong knowledge of the legislative requirements of: Ministry of Education; CCEYA; Hamilton Public Health; Hamilton Children’s Services; Early Learning Framework; How does learning Happen
• At least three years experience in a Child Care Centre with supervisor experience;
• Demonstrated organization and time management skills.
• Knowledge of child development, and child development resources internally and in the community.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of CCLS is an asset
• Current Standard First Aid/CPR certificate.
• Good presentation and group facilitation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

• Must be physically able to lift/carry children in the program
• Hours of work between 6:30 am – 3:30 pm or 9:00am – 6:00 pm rotating shifts
• Ability to move/carry equipment for the program
• Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling
• The Assistant Supervisor will act in the absence of the Supervisor
