Assistant Manager - The Healthy Butcher

The Assistant Manager, The Healthy Butcher, is accountable for supporting the General Manager in all store operations, striving for financial performance, brand, and customer experience.They will supervise the in-store team, participating in butchery while driving employee engagement and development.

Responsibilities

• Executing and coaching cash handling procedures including store deposits
• Ensuring that all meat is cut and packed properly to help prevent substandard quality while identifying and reducing costs from poor quality
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve store objectives
• Working primarily alongside the team in a customer-facing capacity, leading by example in demonstrating professionalism and maintaining a positive, proactive, and productive work environment compliant with company policies & procedures
• Adjusting and executing a fair and efficient schedule within labour budgets
• Other duties as required
• Planning and actioning initiatives that enable the achievement of KPI targets for sales and waste
• Performing, delegating, and coaching safe completion of tasks ensuring that food safety and cleanliness standards are followed at all times, reporting any actual or near-miss injuries according to company policy and legal requirements
• Ensuring that all customers have a seamless shopping experience including a warm & friendly greeting, beneficial product knowledge and appropriate additional recommendations
• Executing ordering and receiving according to company procedure, ensuring that all product is accounted for that is purchased, damaged, wasted, or not sold within its shelf life in the manner designated by company policy
• Maintaining store merchandising plan and maintaining store environment as welcoming and easy to shop, ensuring music and lighting are set to standard and product displays & pantries are clean, rotated and well-stocked
• Maintaining a high level of confidentiality, partnering with the General Manager and Human Resources to recruit, train, and manage performance including recognition initiatives, action plans and morale concerns

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to influence others and foster a positive work environment
• 2+ years experience in a leadership capacity is preferred
• Experience in grocery, customer service, food service, food production environment is preferred; priority will be given to those candidates with butchery experience
• Passion for food and butchery is required
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Ability to prioritize and balance tasks, working independently and as part of a team
