Alstar Group of Companies Ltd. is currently seeking Apprentice Welders and Pipefitters to join our dynamic team. We are currently looking for Apprentice Welders and Apprentice Pipefitters to work out of our SE Calgary Facility (8700 Venture Ave SE - not transit-accessible)

Responsibilities

• Help fit and tack pipe spools
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout requirements
• Cut and bevel pipe
• Use of hand tools for grinding and buffing
• Use of an overhead crane and rigging to move spools
• Setup spools for welding
• Gather Fittings and Pipe to be assembled
• Assisting welders
• Measure and mark pipes for cutting, threading and welding
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines to protect yourself, your co-workers, and the environment
• Check system for leaks using testing equipment
• Other duties may apply

Requirements

• Indentured as a pipefitter or welder apprenticeship program
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment in all weather conditions
