Job Title: Ant Shop Assistant - Become an ant farmer!

: Canada Ant Colony is looking for two individuals to rear ant colonies, feeder insects, and pack/ship orders.

About Canada Ant Colony: Canada Ant Colony is a small specialty biological supply store and the largest distributor of ant colonies in North America. We sell queen ants, colonies, and antkeeping setups to pet stores, filmmakers, research facilities, and hobbyist ant-keepers. We also specialize in importing feeder insects for reptiles. This is our first physical location, but we try to be flexible.

Day-to Day Tasks:

You will:

- Receive any incoming packages, unpack and organize them respectively

- Feed any ant colonies, feeder insects (Everything will be on a schedule and fed 2-3 times per week)

- Maintain stock levels

- Package and ship any early week orders on scheduled pickup times with Canada post

- Keep the facility clean and tidy

- Check colonies for any signs of abnormal development, disease, etc.

Currently, we are looking for two individuals to work roughly 20 hours a week each. Many of the tasks outlined here will be significantly easier if done collaboratively, and if desired, we can give more shifts as requested. Hours are flexible, although we may request work on weekends leading up to Christmas or during high volume times.

Qualifications:

Genuine passion for animals and to be committed to their welfare. You should be confident in handling animals. In particular, being squeamish about insects is (for obvious reasons) a no-go.

Proficient in English Communication

Experience working with rearing reptiles or invertebrates (including personal pets), though not required, is a significant asset.

Strong attention to detail, Ability educate self on products and services are musts (though training will be provided)

Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs is an asset.

Compensation: Negotiable starting at 18$ an hour, tied to match inflation, depending on performance and hours worked.
