About the team:

The Risk team consists of data scientists, software developers, and analytical and operations associates with diverse educational backgrounds such as math, operations research, computer science, engineering and business. The team is responsible for managing fraud and credit risks at Wealthsimple. Data is an essential part within the Risk team.

We achieve these goals by:

• Building a high quality and scalable state-of-the-art data warehouse that powers all decision making
• Leveraging machine learning and algorithms to help Wealthsimple build smarter financial products
• Using decision science to understand the cause and effect of our business decisions

About the role:

We are hiring for an Analytics Developer on the Risk team. This role will be at the intersection of fraud, credit, and data. You will be responsible for building robust, efficient and integrated data models that enable analytics and machine learning across the Risk organization. The successful Analytics Developer is able to blend business acumen and software engineering best practices while effectively communicating with stakeholders.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Translate business requirements into data models that will help stakeholders answer key business questions and inform strategic decisions

• Build data models in cloud data warehouses that will be used as the source of truth for analytics and ML models across the Risk organization
• Partner with external stakeholders to support some of Wealthsimple’s highest priority efforts
• Apply software engineering best practices like version control and continuous integration to the code base; ensure data models are well tested, documented and maintained

Skills we are looking for:

• Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in highly collaborative environments
• Knowledge of another programming language e.g. Python is a plus
• Experience with a cloud data warehousing (Snowflake, Bigquery, Redshift)
• Experience with dbt
• Experience working as part of a data team; either a data analyst, data scientist, or data engineer
• Proficient understanding of data warehousing methodologies and concepts (Kimball, Inmon, etc)
• Excellent SQL skill
• Comfortable with software engineering best practices like version control and using Git
